Arches National Park 4x4 Adventure from Moab

Overview
Hop into a Toyota Land Cruiser with your expert guide and head north from Moab to the backcountry entrance of Arches National Park and avoid the crowds.

Our first stop is to see dinosaur footprints. For millions of years this area was teeming with dinosaurs.

We pass Balanced Rock, one of the most iconic features of the Park, standing a staggering 128 feet. Landscape look familiar? Indiana Jones, and Thelma and Louise have scenes shot here.

The 4X4 trail into the backcounty climbs a short but steep rock wall passing sandstone fins, towering pinnacles and tall spires known as the Marching Men. We stop at Tower Arch for an optional hike.

As you travel along the track, hear informative commentary about the geology, wildlife and history of the park.

We make another stop at Eye of the Whale for an optional hike to a seldom visited slick rock playground named Herdina Park.

After exploring the backcountry we exit past the three gossips and Park Avenue before your guide returns you to Moab.

What To Expect
1
Arches National Park
Visit Arches National Park on a 4-wheel drive (4WD) tour that features spectacular sandstone arches and access to areas that most visitors don't see. An expert guide will maneuver your 4WD past red rock highlights such as Marching Men, Tower Arch and Eye of the Whale. Experience these monuments and more up close and learn about the parkā€™s wildlife and history.
2
Mill Canyon Dinosaur Trail
This 5-hour tour even includes a stop to see fossilized dinosaur tracks, left behind millions of years ago when dinosaurs roamed the region.
3
Tower Arch
An optional hike to the awe-inspiring Tower Arch begins at the foot of the bluff, where the 4WD road ends. From here, the route is rocky and steep, though short. Tower Arch itself is very large with a 92-foot span and can be viewed from the trailhead for those opting out.

We had the best four hours with our NAVTEC tour! Our guide Jon was incredible. He taught us so much about the park, the history, the landscape, the wildlife, etc. He was so much fun, and he really made sure the trip was tailor made towards what we wanted to get out of it. Whether you are into hiking, pictures, or just riding, Jon will make sure you enjoy the trip! He made the experience so fun, we could not have asked for a better tour guide. The tour itself and the scenery was stunning. We were able to see part of the part we would have never seen by just walking and hiking on the main trails. I could not recommend this company and this excursion more!

We took two 1/2 day tours with NAVTEC in Moab and they were both wonderful. Not only did my husband and I enjoy the tours, but our three kids did as well (ages 12, 10, and 5). Buzz was a fantastic tour guide and we were happy that we got to tour with him both days! He really tailored the trip to keep our kids entertained, yet we all learned so much. We were happy that we could all fit in once car and took turns sitting in the back seat. I highly recommend using NAVTEC when traveling to Moab. We got so much more out of our visit to the parks than if we had gone on our own.

Other than the obvious beauty of the park which is spectacular, the tour itself wasnā€™t anything like what we expected. The driver Lolly scared us to death a couple times drifting over in to oncoming traffic on the main road. For the price you pay I was expecting a nice, newer, Jeep but was picked up in a circa 1990ā€™s Toyota that had barely working air conditioner and filthy 10 year old seat coverings. We were paired with another couple that left an adult sitting in the middle of the back seat where you couldnā€™t see anything and were forced to sit on the seat divider which was very uncomfortable and difficult to hold on during the rough 4 wheel portions of the trip. We did 3 paid tours in the area and this is the only one we werenā€™t thrilled with. I wish we would have picked another tour company like Adrift to go with. Based on our experience Iā€™m truly surprised by all the 5 star reviews. Maybe we were just unlucky? Who knows.
