Arches National Park 4x4 Adventure from Moab

Overview
Hop into a Toyota Land Cruiser with your expert guide and head north from Moab to the backcountry entrance of Arches National Park and avoid the crowds.

Our first stop is to see dinosaur footprints. For millions of years this area was teeming with dinosaurs.

We pass Balanced Rock, one of the most iconic features of the Park, standing a staggering 128 feet. Landscape look familiar? Indiana Jones, and Thelma and Louise have scenes shot here.

The 4X4 trail into the backcounty climbs a short but steep rock wall passing sandstone fins, towering pinnacles and tall spires known as the Marching Men. We stop at Tower Arch for an optional hike.

As you travel along the track, hear informative commentary about the geology, wildlife and history of the park.

We make another stop at Eye of the Whale for an optional hike to a seldom visited slick rock playground named Herdina Park.

After exploring the backcountry we exit past the three gossips and Park Avenue before your guide returns you to Moab.

What To Expect
1
Arches National Park
Visit Arches National Park on a 4-wheel drive (4WD) tour that features spectacular sandstone arches and access to areas that most visitors don't see. An expert guide will maneuver your 4WD past red rock highlights such as Marching Men, Tower Arch and Eye of the Whale. Experience these monuments and more up close and learn about the parkā€™s wildlife and history.
2
Mill Canyon Dinosaur Trail
This 5-hour tour even includes a stop to see fossilized dinosaur tracks, left behind millions of years ago when dinosaurs roamed the region.
3
Tower Arch
An optional hike to the awe-inspiring Tower Arch begins at the foot of the bluff, where the 4WD road ends. From here, the route is rocky and steep, though short. Tower Arch itself is very large with a 92-foot span and can be viewed from the trailhead for those opting out.

My 15 year old daughter and I had an absolutely fantastic adventure! Our guide Josh was so good. He really knows the history of the area, knows geology like a professor, and is an expert 4x4 driver, plus tells some killer jokes! He took us places you'd never see unless you go on the tour. Can't say enough good things about our experience. Thanks Josh, Philip

Our guide Yancy was amazing! He is very knowledgeable about the history and geology of the park. He took us around the backroads of moab and showed us what the typical tourist doesnā€™t see. He has great energy and made this so fun. It was a great experience!

We actually did two 4x4 tours with Navtec on consecutive dates in mid-July, one twilight 4x4 tour of Arches NP back country from 4:00-8:30pm and then a 1/2 day morning 4x4 tour of Canyonlands the following day. Both guides, Phil and Buzz, were TERRIFIC, knowledgeable, experienced, friendly, and passionate about their work and the parks. We truly enjoyed seeing parts of the parks not otherwise accessible to the masses. The vehicles (Toyota Land Cruisers) were well designed for the terrain, much of which-especially on the Arches tour, is rugged, bumpy, and jostling. The dirt road through Canyonlands was a smooth ride. The vehicles can seat up to 4 guests, but in my opinion, the back seat is tight (shoulder-to-shoulder) for three adults. The person sitting in the middle-back misses out on some views along the way. That being said, we stopped often, switched up seating, and enjoyed both tours very much, and highly recommend. The guidesā€™ knowledge of history and geology, and the access to back country, are essential to getting the most out of your visit to the parks.
