Overview

Hop into a Toyota Land Cruiser with your expert guide and head north from Moab to the backcountry entrance of Arches National Park and avoid the crowds.

Our first stop is to see dinosaur footprints. For millions of years this area was teeming with dinosaurs.

We pass Balanced Rock, one of the most iconic features of the Park, standing a staggering 128 feet. Landscape look familiar? Indiana Jones, and Thelma and Louise have scenes shot here.

The 4X4 trail into the backcounty climbs a short but steep rock wall passing sandstone fins, towering pinnacles and tall spires known as the Marching Men. We stop at Tower Arch for an optional hike.

As you travel along the track, hear informative commentary about the geology, wildlife and history of the park.

We make another stop at Eye of the Whale for an optional hike to a seldom visited slick rock playground named Herdina Park.

After exploring the backcountry we exit past the three gossips and Park Avenue before your guide returns you to Moab.

What To Expect

Arches National Park

Visit Arches National Park on a 4-wheel drive (4WD) tour that features spectacular sandstone arches and access to areas that most visitors don't see. An expert guide will maneuver your 4WD past red rock highlights such as Marching Men, Tower Arch and Eye of the Whale. Experience these monuments and more up close and learn about the park’s wildlife and history.

Mill Canyon Dinosaur Trail

This 5-hour tour even includes a stop to see fossilized dinosaur tracks, left behind millions of years ago when dinosaurs roamed the region.

Tower Arch

An optional hike to the awe-inspiring Tower Arch begins at the foot of the bluff, where the 4WD road ends. From here, the route is rocky and steep, though short. Tower Arch itself is very large with a 92-foot span and can be viewed from the trailhead for those opting out.

The parents had been to Arches before but this trip added a new dimension. Went with family including 5 year old. Highly recommend. Learnings: even with smaller kids, do not agree to put six into a Jeep with the jump seat. People get nauseous in the far back (a larger adult wedged himself in back to save the others). The heat was also too much on sunset tour for the older jeeps AC to keep back cool. Our driver Josh was a fountain of knowledge and customized trip flow to our interests (geology, Dino prints, Arches, rock formations). Enjoyed mix of mainstream areas (Sand Dune arch at end of trip with few people is memorable) and Tower Arch (hard to see otherwise). Don’t understand why people ding about not being closer to Delicate Arch (well documented and honestly a good thing, this isn’t Disney) or the 4 wheeling bumps (we liked, wasn’t long or too crazy). Unless you have extra stamina a half day is a lot and there was no feeling of being rushed. Well done trip!!

It was a blast being able to go 4-wheeling for the first time, tons of fun. We were able to see parts of the park we would never have been able to see without the tour. It was extremely hot but the 4x4 was air conditioned and snacks were supplied. Our guide Josh B was not only entertaining but also very knowledgeable on a variety of topics. I am so glad we got him as our guide and highly recommend him and the tour to anyone. On my next trip we plan to take another tour with NAVTEC and we will definitely ask for Josh. If you get Josh as a guide then be ready to laugh a lot.

Ask for Yancey!!! He was an awesome guide. Safe, knowledgable and fun. Our family had never been to arches and if we went back we would do this again for sure. This company was awesome. Also gave us great advice on other local attractions and food. Our guide, Yancy made our trip.
