Overview

Hop into a Toyota Land Cruiser with your expert guide and head north from Moab to the backcountry entrance of Arches National Park and avoid the crowds.

Our first stop is to see dinosaur footprints. For millions of years this area was teeming with dinosaurs.

We pass Balanced Rock, one of the most iconic features of the Park, standing a staggering 128 feet. Landscape look familiar? Indiana Jones, and Thelma and Louise have scenes shot here.

The 4X4 trail into the backcounty climbs a short but steep rock wall passing sandstone fins, towering pinnacles and tall spires known as the Marching Men. We stop at Tower Arch for an optional hike.

As you travel along the track, hear informative commentary about the geology, wildlife and history of the park.

We make another stop at Eye of the Whale for an optional hike to a seldom visited slick rock playground named Herdina Park.

After exploring the backcountry we exit past the three gossips and Park Avenue before your guide returns you to Moab.

What To Expect

Arches National Park

Visit Arches National Park on a 4-wheel drive (4WD) tour that features spectacular sandstone arches and access to areas that most visitors don't see. An expert guide will maneuver your 4WD past red rock highlights such as Marching Men, Tower Arch and Eye of the Whale. Experience these monuments and more up close and learn about the park’s wildlife and history.

Mill Canyon Dinosaur Trail

This 5-hour tour even includes a stop to see fossilized dinosaur tracks, left behind millions of years ago when dinosaurs roamed the region.

Tower Arch

An optional hike to the awe-inspiring Tower Arch begins at the foot of the bluff, where the 4WD road ends. From here, the route is rocky and steep, though short. Tower Arch itself is very large with a 92-foot span and can be viewed from the trailhead for those opting out.

My husband and I had left Yellowstone and we’re headed to El Paso, TX when we saw the sign for Arches National Park and decided to stop. So glad we did! They were doing timed tickets until 5:00 pm. We didn’t have one, but it was 4:40 and the woman ranger graciously allowed us to enter. The park was easy to navigate to Numerals’s beautiful sites to view. We are so happy we stopped!

We did the half day tour. If you are going to call it Arches National Park 4x4 adventure - then there should be more than 2 stops at two arches. The 4x4 experience was great, but why didn't we stop in the park and hike to the arches? Your instructions even state that we needed to have a park pass. We all had passes, so why didn't we stop at the arches in the park and hike to them??? Instead it started off with an hour of 4x4ing (to see the dinosaur tracks), then into the park, but we stopped only to use the bathroom at Skyline Arch. Then we had a 1 -1 1/2 hour 4x4 ride to Tower Arch (which was a great experience btw); BUT. . . . then the rest was was just a drive by tour of Arches . . . . without stopping!! Again, this is not a 4x4 tour of Arches - it's a 4x4 drive by of Arches.

Enjoyed the tour very much and Tristan was an excellent Tour guide and driver. He took very good care of the people in our group and made sure we had plenty of cold water to drink and even provided some light snacks.
