Featured on the TV show Ice Road Truckers, the Dalton Highway (technically Alaska Route 11) runs north-south through Alaska, nearly all the way to the Arctic Ocean, and parallels the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. It’s one of the most isolated roads in the United States and provides some beautiful Alaskan scenery for you to enjoy during the ride. With sweeping views of mountains and valleys, you will see the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline System (TAPS), one of the largest pipeline systems, transporting thousands of gallons of oil from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez, up close.

Awesome day!!!! Our guide Bob was terrific. He has a great love of Alaskan history. Very knowledgeable, and shared so much information. A long ride through the frozen tundra, but ever so beautiful !!! and with a very competent, and safe driver in Bob. Just think. I crossed the Arctic Circle, at -25 degrees..Whew!! Saw Alaskan Pipeline, as made way along Dawson Highway, and Yukon ... also saw Arctic Fox, and herd of Caribou...Bob also stopped many times in search of Northern Lights, sky was so clear...but they didn't show...but the stars were so impressive, sooo many of them. It was a great day, and Bob was a great guide. Highly recommend this tour...you will not be disappointed!!!!

After arriving at various times on Friday we all got together Saturday afternoon for this incredible start to our vacation. This company accommodated six of us with only a couple days' notice. I spoke with Suzanne who needed to check logistics to make sure they could accommodate us. She promptly returned my phone call to work out the details. Because of reviews on Trip Advisor, I requested Bob to be our guide. He did not disappoint! He knows a little bit about a lot of things! From picking us up promptly at our hotel to teaching us all about the pipeline, constellations, and the aurora, he took care of everything! Matthew joined us on the trip and was quite attentive to our needs, informed us of all kinds of Alakan history, and showed us a great time sledding down the banks of the Yukon River. The 6 of us traveling together were from 3 different states, range in age from 34-72, and have various backgrounds. All were impressed by this trip and wouldn't hesitate to repeat it! 14 hours worth of touring sounds like a bit much, but the trip had the perfect amount of stops for stretching our legs, bathroom breaks, and to break up the monotony of endless miles. Each stop had a wonderful charm all its own. The peanutbutter pie at the Hilltop truck stop and the pork Chinese noodles at Yukon base camp were both amazing! Alaska Wildlife Tour is a terrific company focused on the customer and providing a great quality service! I would heartily recommend this tour.

Lynley was a wonderful tour guide and had a lot of knowledge about the wild life in Alaska as well as the history of the destinations that we stopped at. She kept the tour interesting by telling us her stories and really engaged with everyone. She is an extremely good driver given the horrible driving condition on the Dalton Highway. She tried every chances to help us see the aurora. We didn’t see any but it’s a Mother Nature kind of thing, you can’t blame anyone for it. Overall, really enjoy the tour. Would definitely do it again when I come back to Fairbanks!
