ARGO Mill Tour

Overview

Experience the wonder of ingenuity, technology, and entrepreneurial spirit that is the Argo Mill & Tunnel with a guided walking tour. Situated in Historic Idaho Springs in the heart of Colorado Gold Country sits the Mighty Argo Mill and Tunnel, one of the most striking and prominent Heritage Landmarks in the American West. The Argo is a central character in the story of the Colorado gold rush and remains one of the largest, most well-preserved historic gold mills in the world.

Each professionally guided tour of the Argo Mill and Tunnel takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. A gold panning lesson and experience, which lasts about 20 minutes, is also included with every Argo Mill and Tunnel tour.

Reservations are not required.

This was by far one of our favorite parts of our Colorado trip. Our tour guide was Andrew and he was awesome! He was super knowledgeable and friendly and made the tour interesting even for our small children. We got a great lesson in gold mining. Andrew went and got a gem bag for our 3 year old to use in the gold mining since he figured the gold mining would be too hard for her. She had a great time finding gems and kept running up to him to show him what she had found. He told her the name of every gem. We really appreciated the kindness shown to our little one. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone of all ages.

Great tour of mining and its complications. This tour explains the process and it’s dangerous factory and tunnel. Great fun at end sifting for gold.
