Situated in Historic Idaho Springs in the heart of Colorado Gold Country sits the Mighty Argo Mill and Tunnel, one of the most striking and prominent Heritage Landmarks in the American West. The Argo is a central character in the story of the Colorado gold rush and remains one of the largest, most well-preserved historic gold mills in the world.

Each professionally guided tour of the Argo Mill and Tunnel takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. A gold panning lesson and experience, which lasts about 20 minutes, is also included with every Argo Mill and Tunnel tour.

We had been rained out of our proposed hike and dropped by when we were driving past. Will was an amazing tour guide and even gave us some local recommendations for dinner. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area and we learned a lot about the tunnel and the mill. I’d highly recommend the tour (it’s not a mine; it’s the mill and the tunnel!) to learn some history on the gold mining in the area.

Went on the tour with our granddaughter. Will was a very informative and entertaining tour guide. Look forward to returning on each vacation. Tour was about an hour long. Afterwards you get to pan for gold. Will was great helping our granddaughter with that.
