Additional Info
  • Specialized infant seats are available
  • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
  • The electric bikes will take all of the hard work out of your ride. We routinely have riders that span the spectrum of age and fitness. The main requirement is that you be coordinated and fit enough to balance a 55-pound bike. A training and practice session is provided at the start of each tour. For people that would like to go on the tour but are not able to balance a bike, it is possible to arrange a ride on the back of one of our stretch cargo bikes that will be driven by another person in your party.
  • Legally, you must be 16 years or older to operate an electric bike. Guides reserve the right to request proof of age of any rider. Riders should also be at least 5 feet tall to operate their own bike. Guests younger than 16 may ride as a passenger with an adult in their group on the back of one of our cargo bikes or in a child seat (for children ages 1-6 or up to 48.5 pounds).
  • Tours are subject to favorable weather conditions. If there is light rain in the forecast but none at the start of the tour, we will decide together at the time of the tour whether to ride. We will provide rain ponchos and rain covers for the storage bags on the bikes to protect your belongings. If canceled due to poor weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date or full refund.
  • Social distancing enforced throughout experience
  • Gear/equipment sanitised between use
  • Guides required to regularly wash hands
  • Contactless payments for gratuities and add-ons

If you have fantasized of a bike ride along the lines of a stroller (no pedaling actually needed) with snacks of bbq and chocolate with an astute Canadian-historical Asheville stand up act, look no further! If you have never dreamed this up, try it out of utter curiosity. Native AVLer Ethan runs a nice business, as personable as he himself (ask him for food/art takes, he’s spot on; lay off the basketball). Tasting (!) E-transport is appropriate for AVL hilly terrain. These wheels come with a throttle as well as pedal assist. It takes some getting used to controlling a non-stationary ejector seat but you’ll get the hang of it scurrying to stay with the group while guides keep you safe and sound. Good way to tour Grove Park Inn. (Peter will parry any snarky observations or remarks in a charming manner) This business is sincere in learning what their customers think, need and enjoy. While I’ll never understand why bike guys insist that making an ‘L’ with their arms means turn right, wives/partners/baggage/etc who are dragged along doing vacay activities should give this a try. Two wife thumbs up!

We always like to learn about the towns we visit, and the e-bike was a great way to see the sights. Our guide, Joe, was fantastic and had a lot of history to share. We enjoyed going up and down the many hills—- and were thankful to not have to pedal! The views were great when outside of town and seeing the Grove Inn was awesome. Joe also gave good recommendations for dinner—- as Asheville has a LOT of options!

We appreciate you leaving a review! We are a big fan of Joe here at Flying Bike. There are certainly a lot of hills in Asheville but our electric bikes make short work of them. Our guides love to share their knowledge of Asheville history, as well as their favorite breweries and restaurants.
