Overview

This Segway adventure will include historical and cultural information about Austin. All groups start off with an orientation followed by one segway rider training. It only takes a few minutes to feel comfortable controlling your Segway, yet we like for you to practice prior to the start of the tour. When all group members give the thumbs up, an experienced guide leads the group to the best spots in town. Choose from 3 departure times throughout the day, each one with a slightly different focus. No matter which one you choose, you'll see the best that Austin has to offer.

My wife called the night before to schedule this tour. This was one that she found that would accommodate our son who is 10 years old. The others that she called, I believe you needed to be somewhat older. The four of us (wife, daughter who is 13, son who is 10, and myself) had never ridden Segways before, and we had a BLAST!!! Sam was our Tour Guide and he was AWESOME! He gave us some quick training in the store before we embarked on our tour. Once we were underway, we headed straight for the Texas State Capital, which was literally right around the block from where the tour company location was. Our daughter had a school project to research Texas history, so Sam took the opportunity to start our research gathering session by talking about the statue that was situated on top of the Capital building. Once he was done, he took us around to the front of the Capital, gave us some more information, and allowed us the time to go inside the Capital to look around. We didn't spend too much time because we wanted to get back underway. Sam then took us on a quick "orientation" ride to let us get used to the Segways. After that, he then took us over by the Governor's residence and spoke a little bit on the history of the home that Texas Governors have called home over the years. Upon leaving the Capital area, Sam took us on a very informative tour of the downtown Austin area. He showed us a new development that had recently been developed. Sam took over to an area near where an old power plant had been turned into a restaurant and bar, and the area that surrounded it. He brought us down to the level of Laby Bird Lake and spoke of several buildings on the opposite side, as well as taking us onto a pedestrian type bridge and provided us with some information about the surrounding area. He took us over that bridge, and brought us passed the area that they use for the South by Southwest concerts, and then back across on a different bridge. We then started our journey back towards our starting point. I've / we've been to Austin several times before but never thought about seeing the city in this manner. If you ever get the chance and want to see Austin in a different way, I would STRONGLY suggest you go with Gliding Revolution and let Sam be your guide!! You will not be disappointed!

my sister and i had an amazimg time. best fun ever!!! our guides sam and nick were fun and gave us an excellent tour. riding the segways were a blast, and so easy. can't wait to ride another tour.

We did a tour with tour guide Sam and he was awesome and very knowledgeable about the city. There were just 2 of us so he catered the tour to the individual things we wanted to see, and since we arrived early, he took us out early and we got way more time on the road than we expected. It was a great way to learn about Austin and to have fun doing it.
