This was a fun and informative tour that included local history and some interesting street art in East Austin. It included local artists, internationally famous artists, and an explanation of the different types of art (useful for anyone who thinks it's all just "graffiti"). There's a useful booklet handed out at the end of the tour so you can remember who is who. Recommended!

We were in Austin this past weekend and took the Austin Art Walk on Sunday evening. A friend who had previously taken the morning tour really enjoyed it and told us about it, so we made a point of signing up. The guides, Eileen and Douglas, were great! They are both clearly very knowledgeable and have done their research well. They have designed the tour in such a way that there is a perfect balance between content and fun; it’s both educational and enjoyable. There are stories about the artists, the art, owners of the establishments on which the art is placed, and the community itself. There is a stop for tacos at a famous east Austin taco stand, thoughtfully provided refreshing cold towels en route, and drinks at Native Hostel, a cool bar whose exterior walls also house some of the murals. We warmly recommend this experience!
