I had the pleasure of joining the group for this Austin art walk today. Douglas and Eileen were so friendly and accomodating, even providing frozen towels for our neck in the Texas heat. Both are passionate about art and the preservation/expansion of art in Austin. I learned a lot and now have a further appreciation for street art. An authentic taste of culture and art in Austin.

This tour is a must! Inspiring, to say the least. The walk is easy, the art is unexpected, and the information is plenty. Douglas is a natural tour guide who is highly informative about Austin's art culture. It got me out on a Sunday morning and on the East side where there is plenty to see & do afterwards. It's an easy, 1.25 mile walk with a couple opportunities to stop for a sit/water/coffee/whatever. Not to mention, there is great attention to detail as far keeping guests comfortable. You won't be disappointed!

When I found this tour and asked my husband if he wanted to go his initial response was "NO". He was completely uninterested in "graffiti". But just to be a "good husband" he came along anyway and was beyond impressed! Everywhere we go now we look for street art and pay attention to details in order to derive meanings and symbols. This tour was very inspiring to say the least. The credentials for the Artists who did the works were quite remarkable and the story and meaning behind each piece was captivating. Douglas did a great job keeping us cool with a spritz bottle and frozen wash clothes - much needed in this Austin summer heat. There is a rest stop at a coffee shop in the middle of the tour. At the end you arrive at a very cool hostile/coffee shop/bar/restaurant where you can stay and have a super healthy lunch for cheap. We wish we could find more Art walk tours like this in Austin on our stay. Highly recommend!
