The Avery Island visit is worth it if you are in the area. The Tabasco tour is interesting and provides a good overview of the company, its history and the manufacturing process. The island is also very interesting. It would be very cool to be able to see the salt mile and pepper fields, but you are limited in the area you can visit. Jungle Gardens was also an interesting drive-through experience - alligators in the ponds, birds in the lagoon. Might be nice if there were a better defined walking tour experience of the gardens too. I'm not sure its worth a special trip from New Orleans, but if you are within a hour's drive, a visit is worth it. We did not try the restaurant.

We roadtripped to NOLA, so I wanted to take the time to drive out to Avery Island. It was wonderful to get out of the city and see more of rural Louisiana. The way the tour is laid out is very intuitive and easy to follow. It's an easy walk in nicely laid out grounds. We drove through the Jungle Gardens, and it was beautiful. Definitely walk out the observation deck. Egrets and spoonbills were flying everywhere, and the egrets were nesting. We got to see egret babies! Overall an awesome day for us.

Really enjoyed the tour seeing how everything is done. Everyone was very friendly. The garden tour was very pretty and we got to see an alligator.
