This was a great experience. A tour guide got off the train, greeted us, and helped us on the train. We received rubber boots and enjoyed the gorgeous views. We got to the glacier and were rowed up to an iceburg to touch it. The next 2 hours were filled with breathtaking views and fun rafting.

What a wonderful scenic trip!! The float was perfect for seeing the deep green valleys and waterfalls of the Spencer Glacier area! This is only accessible by railroad! We couldn't get more back country than this! Our tour guide was personable and very knowledgeable. We didn't have to do any paddling, so it was just perfect for just sitting back and letting the river take you down. We defiantly enjoyed her stories and her experience of the water was fantastic. It was great to know she loved what she does, and it showed on this trip. We started at the glacier where the guides were happy to help us get the perfect picture. We floated around icebergs, even getting a chance to touch one! Even though it was rainy and cool, they brought warm water for cocoa or cider, as well as some snacks. They provided rain gear, which was a blessing on our day, and even had gloves and extra clothing in case anyone got cold. We stopped to rest and enjoy our snacks and drinks and stretched our legs. I do have to say, I will recommend this to everyone I know. To experience such raw back country beauty while floating under the guidance of our experienced river guide, it is defiantly a must for all Alaskan adventures!

We went on the Spencer Glacier Raft trip at Spencer Glacier. The staff is very helpful and keeps everyone up to date and well trained on safety. It is amazing to be going around icebergs at the glacier. They row you right up so you can touch them and plenty of time for photos. After traveling around the icebergs you begin to float down the Placer River to where the train picks you up. It is an easy float and an easy way to access the wilderness in Alaska.
