Beautiful Self Guided Kayaking by the Biltmore

Overview

Enjoy this relaxing and spectacularly beautiful float by the breathtaking Biltmore property. This calm water trip begins just north of Asheville at our private put in and lasts approximately 3-4 hours. On this trip you will float down the majestic French Broad river starting north of the city. Along the way you will see lots of views of the surrounding southern Appalachian mountains and will often have a chance to see some of the local wildlife (if you’re lucky). At the conclusion of this trip you will finish at our private takeout in the heart of the famous River Arts District where you can relax and enjoy a beer at our bar by the river. This trip starts at the feet of Bent Creek Experimental Forest, a beautiful national forest just on the outskirts of the city.

We did the self-guided kayaking down the French Broad River as part of our 1st anniversary weekend, and it was a really fun experience, and just a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon! Asheville Adventure Company made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. The river is calm, smooth, and easy to maneuver which makes it perfect for just floating and enjoying the mountain scenery and views of the Biltmore estate grounds. The flow of the river under the bridges does get a bit choppier, but they are completely manageable and keeps the experience more fun and exciting. The guides are also very friendly, helpful, and informative, especially with letting us know about where to expect these choppier waters beforehand and exactly what we needed to and where to do. Since we had only been kayaking a couple of time before this, it really helped keep us aware and at ease, making the entire experience that much more enjoyable. We highly recommend kayaking through Asheville Adventure Company!

The river was beautiful and a good, long, fun paddle. The staff was friendly and actually went the extra mile to rescue us when we had a little mishap, LOL!

Was exactly as promised…beautiful! This is an easy, relaxing trip on a gentle river. There are a few ripples so it’s probably good if you’ve had a little kayaking experience before, because you are on your own for the 3 hour trip. I would highly recommend this outing!
