From our bus driver Al to our whale watching guides Brigid and Captain Alex - friendly and knowledgable. The Mendenhall Glacier was spectacular. The whale watch cruise was fantastic - at least 10 whales flipped us their tails - and the close up of the sea lions basking on a buoy made us all smile. Finishing up at the Salmon Bake with delicious food in a pleasant outdoor setting - what a wonderful excursion!!!

This excursion was great. The best part was the whale watching with Alex and Brigid. They helped us see at least 12 humpbacks, including a calf. We also saw stellar sea lions and eagles. The glacier was interesting and scenic, and we were glad to see it. The salmon bake was very good, too. All of the guides and drivers were entertaining and knowledgable. Very happy we did this trip!

Mendenhall Glacier: Bus pick us up from the port and we headed to Mendenhall Glacier. During the drive, our coach bus driver educated us on the town of Juneau. He dropped us off at the glacier and gave us 1 hour to be able to walk around the Mendenhall Glacier National Park. We were only able to go to the parks visitor’s center and take a 10 min hike to a nearer photo spot. I wish we had little more time to get closer to the glacier/waterfall. As advertised, the trail takes ~45 mins round trip (time assumes you’re not stopping to take pics). Whale Watching Without a doubt, whale watching was the highlight of our excursion. Our whale watching took about ~ 2 hours. Within that timeframe, we saw about 4-5 separate whales, numerous blow spouts and THREE (3) breaches (whale jumping out of water). I was told that breaches within that specific area were very rare. Seeing 3x sewerage breaches was once in a lifetime experience. Salmon Bake Very good glaze. Great fresh salmon.
