The driving part of this tour only covers Lihu’e north. Domi our guide imparts upon you what he wants you to take away from this experience. I can see how his approach may irritate some individuals but if you take a moment to reflect, you will see the intention is genuine and enjoyable. I have taken a helicopter tour of Kaua’i before, which is exillerating, but I really enjoyed the plane ride. There was something about the slightly higher altitude and pace that allowed me to see the beauty of the island more. We did have fantastic weather. Next was a boat ride up the Wailua River on the Smith family boats. I had mixed feeling about this part of the tour. It is a bit dated but has some charm. Tropical storms have taken their toll on the area but close your eyes a listen to the wedding song and you can be transported. Note that the timing between the flight and the boat ride is tight. You then see a few more sights and head for lunch. Lunch was our choice and we went for local fare which was as expected and I enjoyed it. You then head off to see other local sites and hear local stories and opinions. I suspect part of this depends on your guide. I enjoyed what Domi has to tell. I can’t say I agreed with every opinion but I appreciated the information. There were a few gems thrown in such as Laysans Albatross and other personal touches. All in all I enjoyed the tour and appreciated what our guide Domi had to offer. I also appreciated the group we were with who had to endure our crying daughter once and awhile.

Domi was our guide and provided 6 hours of non stop information and fun. Domi's aloha spirit was so genuine and generous. Loved him

The most important part of this tour we were looking forward to was the air portion. The tour description indicated it was going to be a helicopter and was disappointed later to discover it was a small Cessna plane. The pilot was experienced and very knowledgeable. Afterwards we did this river cruise that we could have skipped altogether. It was a 2 mile barge ride that didn't lead to anything spectacular. The rest of the day we were driven around by Steve who was nice but way too talkative and very political. He was asking us trivia questions all day long and think he ran out of things to show us as he was driving us by several beaches and showing us where he goes to church, the post office, where an old gas station existed, etc. - things a tourist could care less about. We will never do a tour again, we'll just rent a car and do our own sightseeing. We had been driven through this town with some shops, would have been nice to have stopped at some of those but felt like we were his hostages that day. Good luck if you decide to book this.
