What To Expect
1
Andrew Molera State Park
We meet across from the entrance to the State Park and get a briefing on how the eBikes operate before heading up the old dirt wagon road that the pioneers used before Hwy 1 was built. We ride along this road, through the State Park and stop at sweeping vistas of the Park and the Pacific Ocean.
2
Old Coast Road
We ride about 5 miles along the Old Coast Road, from Andrew Molera State Park into the Little Sur River Valley before turning around and riding back. The ride is full of sweeping vistas. It can be dry and dusty or muddy depending on the season. Make sure you're ready for a ride with some loose dirt and gravel on some long hills.
3
Andrew Molera State Park
Our first stop is a scenic overlook where we see the Big Sur River join the Ocean at this "smugglers beach." It's a beautiful view and has some fun history.
4
Big Sur
As we climb the hill you'll look out over the Big Sur Valley and see where the river meanders to the sea.
5
Point Sur State Historic Park
As our tour gains altitude we gaze out past the Point Sur Light Station in the distance. Learn about the fun history that brought this lighthouse to us.

The views were amazing and our tour guide, David, was great. The peddle assist e-bikes were easy to ride and well maintained. The ride was diverse: including views of the beautiful coast, Big Sur hills, and through a forest next to a stream. We experienced a lot of Big Sur’s terrain over a few hours. One of the funnest activities our family has done in Big Sur!

We went to Big Sur for our 25th wedding anniversary. On the last day of our 3-day trip, I purchased a surprise bike tour for me & my wife. $350. We were to meet at a precise location & we arrived 15 minutes prior. No one showed up. We waited nearly 45 minutes before we left. Turns out the individual that was supposed to give us the tour was 30 minutes late. He texted us but the location we were to meet did not have cell service. He was EXTREMELY apologetic & advised that he would tell his "owners" -- this company Mad Dogs & Englishmen Bike Shop about the episode. He texted me he did & was nice enough to follow up 3X asking if I had heard from the owners. Nearly 2 weeks later, I finally did. Mad Dogs then sent an e-mail apologizing for the confusion & said they would issue me a CREDIT to a future tour. I advised I was not from the area & likely would not be returning for years. And that given they effectively ruined our last day of our anniversary celebration, that I wanted a refund of the cost of the tour. After several follow ups, they would not issue a refund & then went radio silent. It is now nearly two months later & I am now forced to go through my credit card company to push for reimbursement. I have no doubt these tours are probably great. But the business ethics of this company leave A LOT to be desired.

Met our amazing guide, Martin, as scheduled. He was wonderfully cheerful, informative, and a great guide for our 12 mile up and back through the coastal mountain roads. He easily explained how to safely operate an e-bike, which we had never done. He stopped at all the stunning views so we could take pictures. We parked our bikes at the top and took a ten minute hike to an other worldly beautiful stream in the middle of a forest. I highly recommend this experience!
