This custom private tour starts at the Hilo Port or any Hilo location. You will see the Best of the Volcanoes National Park, Rainbow Falls, and whatever else will fit in the 7 hours of time! For other optional stops, see below. Many people skip Punalu'u due to the long drive to see more of the National Park.

What To Expect

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

This National Park is over 500 square miles and is a UNESCO Heritage Site.

Nahuku - Thurston Lava Tube

Walk through a verdant rainforest and experience a ancient lava tube.

Chain of Craters Road

There is a lot to see on this road. We keep your tour action packed and we don't take you through endless lava flows that are the same eruption.

Steam Vents

Get a black of rainwater that has been super heated under the rocks.

Punalu'u Black Sand beach

The most famous black sand beach and possibly turtles, this black sand beach is a serious time commitment because we have to drive you out of the National Park through the Kau Desert, there is very little to see. Most people would rather see a black sand beach and see more of the National Park, this is totally your choice.

Jodi is an incredible tour guide! It's all in the details with Big Island VIP. She takes photos, knows so much history and takes the time to find out what the client is interested in doing. We only wish we would have booked her or her husband for a second day. We do a lot of tours and our entire group loved her. Thanks to Jodi we got to see some very, very special places from the last volcano explosion that not everyone gets to experience. If we ever get back to the Big Island we will call her or her husband for sure!
