So our intention was to actually hop off and on the trolley. However the tour guide was so outstanding we stayed on for the full tour. Uncle Steve is an older Italian Bostonian. He can answer any question you can conjure up. The stories he tells during the tour are excellent!!!!! The only thing I regret is that we waited until the third day of our trip to do the trolley. Next time we will do the trolley tour first to get a lay of the land.

Our tour guide, Jack, was great. He should be a stunt driver in Hollywood because the maneuvers he pulled in that trolley were epic. He avoided traffic cones, pedestrians, cars that darted out in front of him, and more, all without skipping a beat or losing his place in the narration. The tour was fun and full of information. I got a great deal on Groupon, so I'm giving this a VERY GOOD because I feel like I got decent value. At full price, I'd be complaining. Where they could improve: The website. It is awful. The FAQ answered none of the questions the average person would have. For example...WHERE IS IT? If you go to the Harbor Garage parking deck, you can find it after stopping at two other stands to ask where it is. One is right there when you get out of the garage. They send you to another...and THEY send you to another, which is where you can actually board the bus (after you swap your Groupon vouchers for tickets). Where you eventually need to be is in front of PROVISIONS on State Street (#255). The trolley was nice enough. Simple. Comfy seats. Open sides, so watch the kids. One of the kids on my trolley leaned out and touched a construction worker! The stops are awkward. You're not getting off or on at any major attractions, and aside from the first stop there are really no signs at the other ones. I read somewhere else that they are not allowed to post signs for them. Technically you can hop on or off all day, but we found that it was much easier to just take the entire tour (an hour) and see everything while learning a lot. We went back around and jumped off at Stop #2, which puts you at the base of Fleet Street. The driver can give you directions to Paul Revere's house from there. We walked around and found that it would take way less time to just walk back to the parking garage than if we waited for another bus, because then we'd have to sit through the rest of the tour again. Maps on the website are atrocious. Use Google Maps on your phone. There is a walking mode that will give you turn-by-turn directions just like when you're driving. Also, the driver we had was very informative and fun, but I wish he would have exercised more control over rude passengers. We had a LOUD FAMILY on the bus who had no interest in what he was saying, so they talked OVER him. They allowed their darling little girl to sing and shriek over him. These people also had a "service dog" with them, which was BS because there is NO WAY that was a service dog. I understand that service dogs are necessary for some people, and I am a dog lover myself, but people like this are ruining the concept. You can't slap a vest you bought on eBay on a dog and just call him a service dog. He didn't even listen when they told him to sit. Overall, it was a great value with the Groupon discount. Just don't treat it like a transportation service. Treat it like a tour...because it is.

We had a group of 5 with 2 people over 80 and this was a great way to see Boston. It was my first Hop-on Hop-off experience and I definitely recommend to anyone who wants to get to know the city quickly, then decide when you want to spend additional time. All members of my party enjoyed it.
