This was more than a trip straight to Plymouth! The 25-passenger bus picked us up in front of the Hilton. Upon boarding, we had waters and breakfast bars waiting for us. Kristen handed me an envelope with our Mayflower ticket in it, and my wife and I sat in the back. Kristen's banter and narration as we traveled was fun and gave us a good intro to what we were seeing. There's not lavatory on the little bus and the ride was very bumpy at times. We drove through Quincy and stopped at John Adams's home, the first Dunkin Donuts, and the birthplaces of John Q and John Adams. We even drove by the birthplace of John Hancock. We stopped at Cohasset where we could walk on the smooth rocky beach and even step into the Atlantic. On up to Scituate Lighthouse where we hopped out and walked around a bit. Then down to Plymouth, hopping out at the National Monument to the Forefathers and finally arriving at the Mayflower around noon. We had two unguided hours in Plymouth. My wife and I walked around the Mayflower park and replica ship. Then we had lunch at Yogies (2-stars - see review) . We checked out Plymouth Rock (kind of odd, honestly). We walked up to the church and up the hill to the burial ground and grave of William Bradford, first governor of Plymouth. The sepulchre with the remains of the Pilgrims is at the top of the hill up from the Rock. From downtown Plymouth, our bus went to Plymouth Plantation (4-stars) where we had two hours to walk around and visit reconstructed native and pilgrim structures. It took us a couple hours to get back to Boston where the rush hour traffic was pretty intense. Kristen was undaunted.
