Ok. Where do I begin! Best experience ever! I'm from Portland, Oregon. I'm staying in the financial district in Manhattan with a friend of mine I went to high school with. I called gyro bikes the day before to find out what route I should take to get there. Of course he gave me the correct route to go through the ferry but my friend said to take the subway. Don't take the subway from financial district lol. I was so far away had no idea where to get off and when I did get off the two guys in the subway station that work there were awesome and told me not to walk it. They had me call the guy that owns the bike company and we figured out I needed to go back and get off on a different exit. Needless to say the owner of Brooklyn Giro Bikes pick me up and brought me to get my bike and gave me the tour personally!! I was late for the group tour! It was an amazing tour he is full of knowledge and he has a great sense of humor! He went above and beyond and I did not even expect that I thought I would have to probably lose my money and cancel the whole bike tour! I had the best time. He took me to a great pizza place for a quick lunch. He grew up in the area so his knowledge of the area was off the charts. To make things even better he even walked with me when the tour was finished to help me get to the ferry to get back to the financial district which by the way is the way to travel! Took me maybe 10 minutes to get back to where my hotel was as opposed to the subway where I had no idea where I was and spent way too much time on when I should have been on the ferry!! Here is a tip don't listen to your friends listen to the locals lol. So is he took me to the ferry I bought him a beer because we had a little time before it showed up. He literally walked me to it to make sure I found it and I cannot tell you how helpful and awesome that was. Not knowing the city like I should he really saved me and again went above and beyond! Who does that in New York City?? Not anyone I know!! I gave him a tip but wish I had more cash on me so I think I will be sending him something in the mail. I highly highly recommend this company to do a bike tour of the city. I'm coming back next summer with my son's and my granddaughter and we will be calling him again!! Hopefully he won't hang up on me when he finds out it's me LOL!! Make sure you use the ferry if you are staying in the financial district to get to Giro Bikes! It's quick it's easy and it takes you just blocks from where they are located. And if you are lucky enough to get him as your tour guide you will absolutely love it! I am going to track him down next summer to make sure he is our tour guide!! Thank you gyro bikes and John.... Could not have asked for a better experience and you took all the stress out of it as I was traveling to you. Thank you!

This was one of the most memorable activities I've done while visiting NYC! I happened to be the only person who signed up for the time of my tour, and John was a gracious host and did a tour with me being the only guest. John is very knowledgable about Brooklyn, including its neighborhoods and history. He also made sure to cater the tour to my interests, and regularly checked to see whether I was fine with our pace while biking. In addition, the bikes we used were in excellent condition and fun to ride on. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone!

Super fun mother/daughter activity to truly experience Brooklyn . Parents: if you are looking for a fun NYC activity with your teenagers, this is perfect! Easy bike ride, nice bikes & John was flexible to customize the ride for us. He taught so so much about the history of Brooklyn, including lots of fun facts! Thank you John! We promise to come back for Redhook!

Heck yeah... next time you are NYC, we are going to Red Hook...
