Gaslamp Quarter

Often called the Historic Heart of San Diego, the Gaslamp Quarter is the main dining and entertainment district of the city. With more than 150 bars and restaurants and 94 registered historic buildings, this nightlife playground has a lot to see and do, as well as a fascinating past. The Brothels, Bites and Booze tour will introduce you to the beginnings of San Diego as a port town – learn why it became one of the more notorious red light districts of its time, and find out how this once-undesired neighborhood became a fun and vibrant nightlife destination for both locals and visitors. After meeting your guide, you’ll embark on a journey of scandalous tales, unique cocktails and local cuisine. On the tour, you’ll make new friends, hear interesting stories, sing karaoke and explore new tastes at local restaurants*.

Our tour guide was He was funny and entertaining, 5/5 stars. I wish we could have learned more about the city itself, although I do understand it is a brothels tour. It also felt as if we were walking in circles (I saw the same buildings multiple times). The first stop Mezé was an awesome greek place. Our tour guide was worried our food took long, but I was not concerned with this - it wasn’t his fault, and sometimes restaurants get busy. The important thing was - the food was great. Our second stop, the reef bar, we had delicious fish tacos. The piece of fish barely fit in the taco, and the margaritas were great. Our third stop - I couldn’t even tell you the name - was fair. If would have rather visited another restaurant, as I can get pizza and beer on my own time. Not to mention the pizza was sub-par. The last place, the Parfait Paris, was delicious. We got mini macaroons, the best I have ever eaten. In summary - skip the pizza place, add more history besides brothels to your repertoire (maybe stop walking in circles so you can fit more history in), and DON’T change your tour guides.

I which the young lady were more knowledgeable about the area and given us more history, The food items were not all that great.

This walking tour was so much fun!! Tour guide was knowledge about San Diego history every stop had great food and drinks !! I would do it again !!
