With more than 150 bars and restaurants and 94 registered historic buildings, this nightlife playground has a lot to see and do, as well as a fascinating past. The Brothels, Bites and Booze tour will introduce you to the beginnings of San Diego as a port town – learn why it became one of the more notorious red light districts of its time, and find out how this once-undesired neighborhood became a fun and vibrant nightlife destination for both locals and visitors. After meeting your guide, you’ll embark on a journey of scandalous tales, unique cocktails and local cuisine. On the tour, you’ll make new friends, hear interesting stories, sing karaoke and explore new tastes at local restaurants*.

Aparna was a great tour guide, with interesting conversation and fun facts. We were lucky to have a small group of 6. Easy walking and yummy food stops.

Quick and easy tour of SD. Aparna our guide was extremely knowledgeable and gave us plenty of funny stories. Food was good but filling and the tour gave us plenty of time to explore other parts of the city.

Our guide was nice (Apurna?), but this tour was underwhelming compared to other food tours I have been on - I think mostly due to the quality of the restaurants that were selected. Other food tours I have taken part in have left me with loads of restaurants to visit - ether because we stopped there and the food/experience was great and I wanted to return or from other recommendations from the guide. I (and my partner) would honestly not choose to revisit any of the locations our tour stopped at. The first stop (Meze) had good pita bread, but the meatballs were having an identity crisis (more like Italian than Greek) and the "greek sangria" just tasted like diluted red wine. The second (WestBrew) and third (an Irish pub) just seemed uninspired and so-so in quality. The fourth stop (CaliCream) was good, but also basic. Nothing felt overly unique to San Diego or overly interesting. We got a few fun stories from our guide, but overall I just wasn't as impressed as I was with other food tours.

Thank you for the feedback, Britni. I'm sorry that our tour did not meet your expectations. All of the restaurants we work with are local establishments, and have a story that fits with the spirit and culture of San Diego. I'm sorry you didn't get this experience. We are not a gourmet food tour, but the tour is designed to share the history and stop into unique spots for tasty bites and drinks. We'll revisit the food items that are offered, based on your comments. We try to choose items that are tasty and easy to serve on a food tour. Thanks for giving us a try.
