Overview

Enjoy the beauty and excitement of Browns Canyon National Monument on a half day whitewater rafting tour down the Arkansas River. Your guide will go over safety procedures, paddling techniques and tell you about the area’s unique history, flora and fauna. This tour departs directly from the River Runners Browns Canyon outpost, a riverside property just south of Buena Vista, Colorado. Transportation is provided from the take-out at Hecla Junction back to River Runners. All gear is included in the price of the trip. Choose from 10 am and 2 pm departure times (check-in is 45 minutes prior).

We had a great time, and Austin was a fantastic guide! The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and took a lot of time to coach and inform us how to handle the raft and the river. We had so much fun that I was ready to go again as soon as we finished! Next time, I will be booking the full day :) I highly recommend this organization for their professionalism as well as the great attitude of the staff.

We did the family float trip from 285 down to the River Runners site. Our guide, Mississippi, was great with the kids and adults alike. At the time of the trip, our children were aged 5 (developmentally 2, Down Syndrome), 6 and 8. Our youngest was so comfortable on this trip he even took a nap in my lap at the back of the boat. Mississippi was the only one with oars and paddled us safely past any and all obstacles and splashed the kids (just enough) with "rapids" when asked. The base camp has a really nice sandy "beach" area for the kids to play in when all is said and done, the margaritas are perfect (not too sweet) and the fish tacos delivered as promised. We'll be back!

Great trip, friendly staff. Austin was a great guide. You get to launch from their property so only a 20 minute bus ride back after the trip.
