Overview

Enjoy the beauty and excitement of Browns Canyon National Monument on a half day whitewater rafting tour down the Arkansas River. Your guide will go over safety procedures, paddling techniques and tell you about the area’s unique history, flora and fauna. This tour departs directly from the River Runners Browns Canyon outpost, a riverside property just south of Buena Vista, Colorado. Transportation is provided from the take-out at Hecla Junction back to River Runners. All gear is included in the price of the trip. Choose from 10 am and 2 pm departure times (check-in is 45 minutes prior).

Great experience - fun, professional staff. I was nervous with the high water levels this season and the knowledge and experience of the whole staff immediately put my mind at ease and we had a BLAST. So great to have such an experienced guide. Will definitely be back for more advanced runs!

Run by a bunch of young hipsters who just want to make sure you’re having a great time. You check in, they hand you a wet suit, booties and a long sleeve wind breaker type shirt and point you in the direction of a couple of containers (yes, those things you see on big ships and trains) and you remove your shorts etc and puulll on that wet suit. Do yourself a favor and wear a bathing suit because you WILL get soaked and when you get back you can peel off all the wet stuff and change into dry clothes. Once dressed you grab a helmet and head to the beach for a safety talk. A young girl, Kelly, manned our boat and did a fabulous job training us and making sure we all had a good time. Worth the cost and for us 2+hours was perfect. My husband is a bit of a daredevil and I was concerned this was going to be too tame for him. It was not! We had a great time.

Great water, great organization, excellent day! The company and the guides are great. Browns is a fun stretch with some lumpy water but nothing too intimidating, highly recommended for anyone wanting to get introduced to whitewater.
