Overview

Enjoy the beauty and excitement of Browns Canyon National Monument on a half day whitewater rafting tour down the Arkansas River. Your guide will go over safety procedures, paddling techniques and tell you about the area’s unique history, flora and fauna. This tour departs directly from the River Runners Browns Canyon outpost, a riverside property just south of Buena Vista, Colorado. Transportation is provided from the take-out at Hecla Junction back to River Runners. All gear is included in the price of the trip. Choose from 10 am and 2 pm departure times (check-in is 45 minutes prior).

My wife and I were first timers rafting what an experience. Wet, wild, and a complete blast. Shelly, our guide was awesome? She had the personality to have fun but get everyone focused when needed. The river starts slow to get you used to it and then you hit rapids and progressively get stronger and by the end you are wanting more. We did have to rescue someone that fell in, Shelly got our team focused firing off commands and directions and we pulled the person out without a hitch. The trip started at 10 and we finished about 12:30 mostly because of the extra time during the rescue. Wear a swim suit and a long sleeve top that drys quickly to protect from the sun and cold water. Go do it, you will love it!

From the moment we arrived all of the staff was very helpful and friendly. Everyone and everything was well organized. The staff provided a safety speech before splitting us into rafts. Each family/group had their own raft and guide. Our guide, Dalton, was fantastic. He was extremely friendly and helped make our experience safe and fun! He pointed out interesting things along the river and kept the conversation going. When we arrived at the end, we loaded into a school bus and they drove us back on the beginning. After our trip we stayed and enjoyed lunch and drinks at their bar and grill. Very yummy drinks and food. If you are looking or a fun experience that will allow you to take in the site of Colorado, book your river rafting tour with River Runners!

I took a 13, a 12, and and 8 year old on the 1/2 day and the four of us had a great experience. All the staff members were great, but our guide (Justin) was exceptional. He was friendly, entertaining, and great at directing action without coming off as constantly ordering or correcting. They had everything we needed for our couple hours on the water. All 4 of us who went definitely want to return.
