Wonderful idea! The tour gives you very interesting historical information that makes the sites much more interesting and helped us decide if we wanted to stop or not. The audio comes on automatically just before the point of interest - you don’t have to worry about keeping track or hitting play. Definitely worth the money. One caution about Cades Cove - we were there on a Sunday and there was a line of cars going about 10 miles per hour around the loop for a good part of that portion of the tour. So if you go on a weekend, plan on 2 hours just for the loop. We spent around 5 hours in total and didn’t do any of the stops towards the end. One of the more interesting stops was 2nd to last one so maybe skip some of the smaller cabins at the beginning (but see one). The only complaint was that the map doesn’t show on Apple Car Play. The audio comes through but my son had to hold my phone to keep track of the map. It’s mostly one way road so not a big issue.

Traci, I’m so glad my Cades Cove Sightseeing Self-Guided Audio Tour added depth to your visit! The automatic audio and flexibility to stop wherever you like make it a great way to explore. You’re right about the weekend crowds—planning for extra time on those days is brilliant. Currently, my tour doesn’t support Apple CarPlay. You can connect it to your car stereo for easy listening, making it a shared experience for everyone. Ah.... so, so. I was expecting much more after all the hype. Go very early to avoid the nonstop traffic. Irritating when cars stop in the middle of the road and hold up everyone else. Yes, the scenery is gorgeous, and we liked seeing the old churches, barns, etc. I would recommend other areas, attractions over this one.

I’m glad you enjoyed the scenery, and it’s true—going early is a great way to avoid traffic. My self-guided tour covers the entire Cades Cove area, but if you’re looking for more, I’d recommend the Great Smoky and Cades Cove audio tour, which has everything you want. Unfortunately, I don’t have control over the traffic, but it’s an excellent tip to go early. If you have any more questions, feel free to email me!
