What To Expect
1
California Academy of Sciences
The California Academy of Sciences is a must-see San Francisco museum. Based in beautiful Golden Gate Park, it’s the only place on Earth to house an aquarium, planetarium, rainforest, and natural history museum—all under one living roof. From the splashing penguins in African Hall to the wildflowers on the roof, the building is bursting with life. A four-story living rainforest and awe-inspiring coral reef ecosystem showcase Earth’s biodiversity, while immersive planetarium shows offer a new perspective on the planet we call home.
2
Steinhart Aquarium
Steinhart Aquarium is one of the most biologically diverse and interactive aquariums on Earth. Home to nearly 40,000 live animals, representing more than 900 unique species, it offers guests an unprecedented view of underwater and terrestrial habitats. From species displayed nowhere else in the world to exhibits about cutting-edge research in little-known ocean ecosystems, a visit to Steinhart Aquarium is full of discovery.
3
Morrison Planetarium
Morrison Planetarium shows are fueled by cutting-edge scientific data, resulting in stunning visualizations of the latest findings, discoveries, and theories about our Universe. Every star or galaxy a viewer encounters in the planetarium precisely mirrors a real-world counterpart, and when this virtual cosmos is projected onto Morrison's 75-foot-diameter screen, the dome itself seems to disappear, resulting in a uniquely immersive experience. Planetarium showpasses are included in the price of admission and can be reserved at the planetarium pass pick-up desk across from the planetarium entrance.

Loved the aquarium and the butterfly and bird attractions. The flow of the building and attractions was seamless. Stayed for hours!

A totally fabulous place - something for everyone!! We bought tickets with no expectation and it exceeded at every point !! We were visiting from the uk and would say it’s a mix of an aquarium, natural history museum, a rainforest with a bit of theme park thrown in. You can wander and wonder around at your own speed, take your own drinks/lunch if you wish to save pennies although there are two very nice cafe/restaurants with a large selection of drinks, snacks, fruit, salads, sandwiches and cooked selection Can easily spend all day here.

A very well presented and thought-provoking experience. From the humidity and wonder of the rainforest to the amazing show in the planetarium, this was a real treat for the senses. The aquarium was breath-taking and the variety of species on show around the numerous subterranean exhibits is impressive. There is a night time show for adults only and while I’m not keen on others’ unruly offspring behaving badly, their random squealing didn’t lessen the enjoyment. In fact, one six year-old in the planetarium was unpretentiously giving the presenter a run for their money by shouting out all the answers to probably rhetorical questions, which was quite charming.
