New Wave SAVED the day!!. I was on a Land & Cruise package with Princess Cruise line and my first day at the Denali Wilderness lodge, I had a white water rafting trip booked. As I sat and watched the clock tick past my pickup time, I learned from the hotel that the rafting company I was booked with had gone out of business and Princess offered to refund my money. I was speechless and truly on the verge of tears as rafting in Alaska was a highlight of my planned trip. I stepped away and sat in the lobby licking my wounds when I heard someone announce they were looking for a party of 2 for a rafting trip. The party of 2 rose up and walked towards the rafting rep. I decided at that moment I was going to see what I could arrange with this company so I bolted up and ran towards the rep as she walked across the parking lot . I explained my situation and she said, get on board the shuttle and they would take care of me. While I was doing this, my travel partner had been working with Princess who was on the phone with New Wave at the same time, so upon our arrival at New Wave, we entered their checkin store with huge smiles telling them they had saved our day and they greeted us as the "Princess Twins (my friend and I share the same first name). From the very start, New Wave treated us with so much kindness and warmth and folded us in to their plans. After our check in, we walked over to the staging area to receive gear for our trip. Let me tell you, I've rafted in Montana and Wyoming in some seriously cold mountain snow fed waters and was always provided dry or wet suits with separate booties to wear to stay warm. At New Wave, I was given TOP OF THE LINE gear to wear to stay warm and dry. Its a one piece dry suit, with booties ATTACHED. The cuffs of the arms and the "turtle neck" top of the suit are fitted with "rubber" material to seal tightly, yet comfortably, to your skin to prevent any water from getting in. I remained dry and warm the entire trip and let me tell you that water is cold. Its glacier fed. Upon arrival at the rafts, we were provided detailed safety and rowing instructions. It was clear we were rafting with very experienced guides that have worked all over the US and beyond. We navigated 11 class 3 & 4 rapids safely but also allowed to enjoy some of the thrills those class rapids offer. The scenery of the canyon was gorgeous and peaceful. I hope you choose New Wave as you will not be disappointed with the overall experience of rafting, equipment and staff. PS. Not only had my rafting trip been cancelled before New Wave saved the day but I unfortunately also had a Denali flight cancelled while in another town. While bemoaning all my losses, New Wave staff told me they could set me up with a company that flew out of Denali and when I returned from my rafting trip, my flight was all setup and I was on my way to that excursion 2 hours later. FULL CUSTOMER SERVICE at New Wave. Make sure you send your business their way.
