3
Elephant Hill
Your guide expertly maneuvers the 4WD over Elephant Hill, known as one of the most challenging 4WD trails in southeastern Utah. Pass Devil's Kitchen and cruise down Devil's Lane before encountering SOB Hill, another challenge to the driving skills of your guide.

It was an incredible tour! As someone who gets motion sick, I was a little worried about riding for a couple hours in a 4x4. Sitting in the front seat made the experience so much better for me! We had Ben as our guide & he was training a new guide, Chris. The experience Ben has to be able to maneuver the area & help Chris was unbelievable! The Joint Trail hike was challenging thru the slot canyon but the view at the top of Chesler Park was spectacular! I would do this trip again & highly recommend it to others who want a tour that is literally off the beaten path!

We did the drive today with Buzz and it was amazing. First time we've been on off-road trails and we were amazed that the vehicle could go where it did. Great job of driving. In several places the switchbacks required backing up (or down) the next segment. No room to turn the vehicle around. Buzz also provided great insights on the geology, habitation, flora, and fauna of the canyon lands. He pointed out a number of petroglyphs along the route. He showed great care for the canyonlands, stopped at one point to retrieve litter thoughtlessly discarded by earlier visitors. We learned a lot.

This was our second time taking NAVTEC tours, and it just gets better. The first day we did a full day in Canyonlands NP including half day boating on the Colorado and half day 4X4'ing on the ridges above the river. The next day we spent the full day in a 4X4 out on Elephant Hill in the Needles district. Our guides, Ben, Chris, and Charlotte, were friendly, accommodating, and very well informed about the geology, history (including Native American), plant life, and outdoor activities available in this massive and beautiful landscape. Charlotte, in particular, was amazing as she took us over and through the very steep and rugged terrain of Elephant Hill, a class 5 trail. If you go to Moab and don't take NAVTEC, you're missing out.
