We had scheduled a full day in Needles, but we’re concerned about the weather due to an unusual period of rain in the Moab region. The tour operator was kind enough to move our adventure up a day. A truly remarkable experience! Unless you plan on hiking into Needles and staying overnight, there is no better way to see this remote area if the Canyonlands National Park. You’ll see all the iconic sites up close as only a few will. Our driver Buzz was so much more than a chauffeur, knowable about the geology, history, peoples and cultures of this incredible landscape, he made our trip not only enjoyable, but rewarding as well. Thanks to Buzz and the staff at NavTec.

Our party of 4 adults were paired with "Ben", an excellent 4 Wheeler and Rock Crawler experienced guide! Needles had not seen rain in months, and we were blessed with a cooler day with light and heavy rain! The trails were extraordinary, in the early part of the day the moisture eliminated any dust on the trails. Ben educated us on the history, landscape, wildlife, flora and fauna. We saw incredible vistas, crawled up and down Elephant Hill and many others! Deer were on the trails. A most excellent lunch was served in a downpour, where awnings were spread from the vehicles over the tables to keep everyone mostly dry! One the way out in the afternoon the rain provided wonderful challenges to the 4X4 skills of Ben and the second vehicle driver "Buzz"! These two gentlemen were top notch, and I would certainly recommend the trip!

This is a top ten 4X4 excursion for sure. Our driver was Ben, I would encourage you to ask for him, if you can get him. He was well experienced and handled the rugged terrain from experience. He is a veteran guide that was raised in the Moab area and an experienced rock 4X4 operator. The trip included a nice lunch prepared in the heart of the Needles, I felt was the best region of the Canyonlands. This trip should be on your bucket list. A 77 year old couple went on the hike with us and successfully completed it thanks to Ben. I would rate it moderate. The scenic 3.2 mile hike was well worth it. The scenery and patience in stopping for pictures gets an A+.
