This tour was the highlight of our trip (which also included Arches and Mesa Verde National Parks). One reason was the scenery, which was magnificent. Photos do not really capture the awe-inspiring depth, breadth and variety of the views. Another reason was the excitement: driving along the White Rim Road and the Shafer Trail had some white-knuckle moments, with steep inclines and sheer dropoffs of hundreds of feet: thank goodness we decided not to rent a 4X4 and buy a pass to drive this route ourselves, but instead hired an expert guide. And the biggest reason was our guide, Blaine: he was amazing! He called me the evening before our tour to get some details about what we were looking for, tailored the agenda to our needs (including some food allergies), and planned the day perfectly so that the highlights were spaced out along the entire route. He was knowledgeable about the geology and history of the area, and told us great stories about local personalities (Lin Ottinger!!). He was entertaining, professional, and very safety conscious. I planned this trip and scheduled the tour, and was honestly a little worried about whether my husband and two adult sons would like this full-day trip (generally they are only good for a few hours of sightseeing at a time, and this included a lot of bouncing around on rutted dirt roads). Well, they LOVED IT. I wanted to have some experiences with them that they would remember for the rest of their lives: thank you Blaine and NAVTEC for helping me accomplish that.

Absolutely fabulous! This was more of a driving trip than hiking...maybe because all of us were not hikers. And, a person just feels comfortable with Blaine. He handled that 4x4 with such confidence, tells good historical stories and gave us a full day from 8 to 5. Yes, the trip is pricey but it's worth every penny.

Wow! What an incredible day. Blaine picked us up right on time and we headed out. The day began with seeing petroglyphs then off reading we went. Blaine was a wealth of information full of great stories and knowledge. This is an entire day of off road adventure, full of stops with sights you can only see from here. Lunch was delicious wraps. This is not a road to drive yourself. We were very happy to have a great driver. Multiple sections of hairpin turns in the cliffs. We would all do this again!
