What To Expect

Canyonlands National Park

After making your own way to the meeting point in central Moab, your guide takes you by 4WD vehicle about 30 miles (48 km) to reach the Island in the Sky section of Canyonlands National Park.

Utah Scenic Byway 279 Rock Art Sites

In an area filled with challenging mountain passes, technical terrain and plenty of level 2, 3 and 4 hikes, the Rock Art Sites of Moab offer travelers easy access to ancient drawings scattered along paths even a novice can navigate.

Dead Horse Point State Park

Your guide takes the White Rim Road, which gives you awe-inspiring views of the Colorado River below on one side and the cliffs of Dead Horse Point rising on the other side, framed by the blue desert sky.

White Rim Road

This rugged portion of the 25-mile (40-km) White Rim Road loop offers incredible views around every bend. Explore more of this amazing landscape on several short optional hikes just beneath the White Rim Sandstone level. Follow your guide on moderately challenging hikes to caves, caverns and breathtaking viewpoints over the mighty Colorado River. Or simply relax near the vehicle and soak up the views.

Lathrop Canyon

You also visit park treasures such as Gooseneck overlook, Lathrop Canyon, Musselman Arch and the famous Shafer Trail, which follows a series of switchbacks down to the Colorado River corridor.

Moab

Your full-day tour includes a stop for a delicious buffet-style picnic lunch accompanied by cold water and lemonade. At the end of an unforgettable day, your guide returns you to Moab to end your tour.

Green River

Below the Island in the Sky mesa sits the White Rim formation, an expansive rock terrace located about 1,000 feet (300 meters) above the Colorado and Green Rivers and the same impressive distance below the mesa. In this rock wilderness, big horn sheep traverse rocky ledges sprinkled with piñon and juniper forest

This trip is my sixth trip to Moab. My wife and I booked the all day White Rim Trail trip. We hooked up with our guide, Josh, and almost immediately I am learning some things that I did not previously learn. He took us to a second petroglyph panel on the road to Intrepid Potash I never knew about. His knowledge and love of the Canyon Lands area is deep and true. We toured the White Rim and ended up on the Colorado for our lunch. I need to point out I never realized that it was possible to get to the river by road. We left after a very nice lunch and continued back part of the way we came we headed back to the Island in the Sky via the Shafer Trail. On the way back to Moab from there we went down what is a back way to the Poison Spider which offered new amazing views. Finally, Josh possesses an amazing knowledge of southwestern ornithology! We would go on any Navtec tour he led!

My husband and I did the all day 4x4 in Canyonlands on February 12th. What an amazing experience! We had the best guide, Blaine, who knew his history as well as names for all the different vegetation. We had a great lunch with one of the most incredible views I have ever seen. Thank you NAVTEC and Blaine for a day we will never forget. The 2 most important words on the tour...Trust Blaine...and we did! It was GREAT!

There is nothing like having the park to yourself! We took the Islands in the Sky tour in Canyonlands with Buzz as our guide. We saw maybe 4 other cars the entire day including the idiot in the Tesla who high-centered in the mud. We learned a lot about the geology of the area, saw big horn sheep and took some amazing pictures. Skip the crowds of summer and grab your puffy coat. Perfect winter adventure.
