Briana informed our walk in the Capitol Hill neighborhood with interesting history and anecdotes. The tastings were Spanish (elegant), Belgian (meh), Salvadoran (meh), and...a bakery-made Pop Tart! (Very good crust.) Briana gave us tips on eateries near Dupont Circle where we stayed: Smoke and Barrel was very good BBQ and excellent sides; Larry's we went 4 times for different flavor ice cream each time; Duke's Grocery 3 times for fantastic, succulent sandwiches---two women can share one---and mac & cheese.

It was the perfect day for a gourmet stroll around Capitol Hill. Everyone was in good spirits thanks to the warm spring sunshine. Sadly, our guide, Mike was having an ā€˜off’ day. I don’t think he was feeling too well. His occasional snippets of history were muddled and confused. Names alluded him and he spent more time on his phone, or trying to pitch us his own private tours than actually guiding us. We stopped at three restaurants - Belga, Las Placitas, and Cava. The food was delicious and the portions were generous but there was a lot of heated confusion between Mike and the servers about numbers, billing, allergies etc. This took a long time to sort out and made us all feel uncomfortable. Our group was large (14 in total) but we enjoyed meeting everyone. Some people had done the tour before and said their previous experience was of a much higher caliber. They had covered more ground, seen more interesting things and learned a lot of history. They even offered to take us back to the sights that Mike had missed! Judging by other reviews, it makes all the difference if you get the right guide. (Big shout out to Jonathan, our server at Cava, who was a superstar!)

This was a great food tour. There were four of us in our party and we were all very satisfied. Mike was a great guide. He knew a lot about the city and was very accommodating to our group. We started at a Belgium restaurant where we had a tasty stew. Then we move on to a Salvadoran place and had a plate of appetizers. Our next stop was Cava were we had saganaki and some other Mediterranean small plates. At our final stop we had a great tasty dessert pop tart. That was great! Overall a great tour. This is the third one we have done with this company.
