With the world-renowned and historic destination of Kealakekua Bay just minutes from our point of departure, the Captain Cook Exclusive is a personal, exciting, and efficient way to see the Bay named one of the world’s best snorkeling locations. Kealakekua Bay is a 315-acre marine sanctuary that boasts incredibly protected waters year round making it the best place in Hawaii for beginning snorkelers.

After a full hour of snorkeling in the crystal clear waters directly in front of the monument to Captain James Cook, you make your way back to Keauhou Bay along the South Kona coastline. Your Captain maneuvers our custom-made vessels into the sea caves at the base of Hualalai, hugging the coast and detailing the culturally significant and geologically fascinating features along the way. Watch for dolphins, whales, sea turtles, and even herds of thousands of goats! If you plan on snorkeling while in Hawaii and want to see what few do, this is the tour for you.

Sea Quest Hawaii

Guests will visit Kealakekua Bay, Captain Cooks Monument, a pristine marine sanctuary. Our Captain and Crew will share the history and culture and we adventure through sea caves and lava tubes.

Wow! My family and I researched the Captain Cook area as it is highly recommended as the best snorkeling location around Kona, and it really is. We think that touring with a great company is the best way to visit because they are very knowledgeable about the area and how to snorkel safely. The check-in process was easy and they had us out on the boat right on time. They take you by zodiac boat to the site and allow you to snorkel for about an hour. Then on the way back they take you right up by the coast to show you lava caves and tell you local legends and history. Our guides Kendra and Jill were super knowledgeable and helpful during the whole experience. The only downfall of our trip were the large group of rather elderly people who were not prepared for the day. The boat ride was slowed down because they were expressing their discomfort and they also quit snorkeling 30 minutes early, putting pressure on the rest of the group to be finished. I know the company cannot control this, but perhaps there should be more details on their website about the trip, such as the type of boat and duration of water time so as to attract a more suitable match between customer and company. Overall, I would highly recommend this company!

The Sea Quest crew, Hope and Skylar, were skillful, enthusiastic, knowledgeable guides to an amazing afternoon snorkeling at the Captain Cook cove. Also, we loved that Sea Quest offers 'prescription' snorkel masks for folks who wear glasses--what a revelation! Plus, no fogging in the mask. It was an exhilarating afternoon we'll long remember.

I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is looking for snorkeling adventure on Big Island. The location is great — we saw many beautiful fishes, and even dolphins that came to hang out in the bay; the staff is excellent, very friendly and helpful. The tour is good for young children, my 7yo son was comfortable, and enjoyed the time a lot.
