I had an awesome morning with Captain Ziplines! We were prepared on a training zip line before moving on to the real thing. The guides were friendly and knowledgable. Besides the adventure of zip lining, we got history and geology lessons. Beautiful scenery and an exciting day. Highly recommended!

My husband and I were a little nervous about ziplining but really wanted to give it a try. We booked our trip through Raftmasters who failed to inform us that Salida was over 50 miles from where we were staying. Not a problem...we barely made it in time since our rafting trip ran long. Our problem began when we realized that our group was quite large...one family had 19 members in their group and there were many more added. This was too large a group for adequate instruction. Although the group was divided into smaller subgroups, the instruction took place as a whole group. The time spent on the hands-on training zipline was very short. I did not feel prepared when I got on the first line. Made it to the other side but was having problems with the steering. No one offered my husband or myself any additional training or support. After the first line, we were basically "written off" and nothing was done to help us to be successful. We were not allowed to complete the final three lines as we were not successful in learning to steer. Remember....no guide offered any additional instruction. While the rest of the group went on to the final lines, we were offered the opportunity to walk to the next sites and watch the others. I was quite upset at not being allowed to finish and certainly did not want to watch others finish the event. No refund was offered and no alternate activity was offered....I would have loved to try one of the ziplines again with the hopes of improving. I did contact the owner and he did reply promptly but basically said, "so sorry but you weren't in good enough physical shape to do this." So....if you are in average physical condition...this might not be the place for you. I was also upset about the guides. They were great on the course but their behavior while driving the van back to town was immature at best. They thought it was entertaining to honk at random young ladies and call out names....they said that the behavior had once resulted in a booking so they thought it was good advertising. i consider it unprofessional at best. And they cared only for their comfort in the van...when they were cool, they shut off the AC .... never mind that the people in the back were not at all cold. In short, Captain Zipline is all about the money and not about insuring that all guests can be successful.

Average physical shape is GREAT and 99.9% of such folks master the zipping technique in short order and have a blast. Safety is NUMBER ONE and sometimes we have to protect the guests from themselves. There were 28 other customers on this tour and all did just fine. These folks were offered the opportunity to walk with the Guide to the last ziplines so they could continue with the group and hear more about the region's geology, history, and ecology...but they chose not to. These customers were late for this trip and unhappy about the 1 hour drive to our site (although it is 1 hr through a gorgeous canyon along the Arkansas River). We did respond to these customers through our email immediately and explained the situation, for instance "small kids are trained to hang on and enjoy the ride"...but for adults who have a much larger body size, they MUST learn to steer and control their speed. We do have health, fitness, and weight restrictions to ensure customer safety. Bottom line, we love these reviews because they keep our customers' experiences real and help us offer a better experience.

Thank you so much for making our family vacation so amazing! We were on our 11th day being gone and were hesitating on going ziplining due to cost, geography, and me being very nervous to do anything like this. From the first moment I picked up the phone and was greeted by Monte, he assured me i would do just fine. I also realized the value is tremendous, something you can't even put a price on. I told Monte I would think about it, call him back to book. Well I did and the plans were set. We left our Lake Dillon Condo in Dillon CO for the 2 hour drive at 6am the next day and headed down to Salida for the 10am trip. The location was easy to find, and we were immediately greeted by our two guides who were expecting us, as well as Monte the Manager. We completed the simple paperwork, boarded the van for a short narrated pleasant ride out to the zip line runs. Our guides were Sean and James-- THEY ABSOLUTELY ROCK!!! Sweet, patient, funny, knowledgeable, confident, witty, silly, and most of all understanding. They provide a cooler for any beverages you take aka Gatorade, water and keep it cold for you. Once we arrived at the beautiful private location with the 7 zip lines- my family and I were issued our equipment, and fitted properly with gloves, helmet, and harness. This trip was my husband and I, my 16 yr old son, 10 yr old daughter. Once properly fitted, we moved to the education area where we reviewed safety information, zip line techniques, including being able to practice on a line where my feet dangled only 6 in off the ground. I have to say the actual bunny training was harder than the actual ziplining. I thought for sure I would be scared and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!! The thing that made the whole trip was the care taken for our safety, our nerves, and humoring us by our guides Sean and James. They took their time and made us feel we were the most important zip line tour they ever gave!!! Their attention to detail, the facts about the area, their silly stories, encouragement for each and every effort made just made the while experience personal and memorable. We had a great time, definitely worth the drive, money and thrill to do this. I would do this a million times over with CAPTAIN ZIPLINE. Kudos to the guides, they are truly wonderful young men. God Bless, Lisa Bullhead City AZ
