Fun Hogg and the others need to Find something else to complain about... I am a firm believer that some people you just can't please. Firstly I don't expect to have a "good hair day" when I'm doing something like this... My sisters and I decided to to this trip as our family reunion and had an absolute blast! The guides, Josh and Jody were sooo much fun and I rather enjoyed their jokes and information about the canyons. They had a way to appealing to not only people who wanted to learn a little history but to kids that need something to break up the "history lesson". They really made it fun. Snakes... would be something I would like to keep in mind even though I did not encounter one of them. We rode in the van up to the top of the canyon, they taught us how to zip across without spinning and yes I even had to put my hair up! would much rather do that than get all dolled up and get my hair caught in the line! OK so my hair was a little messed up after I was done! Ha ... Afraid of heights???? My sister was and it is nothing like jumping ... it is flying and she immediately got over it after her first run. She had a great time as did all of us. We too had a rather large group but the guides split us up in a way that we felt like we had our own tour guide. THE GET A LIFE MEMO TO Those who want to criticize this need to find something else to do. Price I felt was very reasonable! If you want to be catered to than go and pay the 400 plus dollars at the other zipline in Colorado. Check the prices before you criticize theirs. It was a great time and would definitely do it again. We made some friends that day that I think we will get with next year. THANK YOU JOSH, JODY AND TO THE CAPTAIN!! FUN FUN FUN

My wife and I came up to Salida to celebrate my birthday with Captain Zipline. Had I ever done this before? No. Was I scared? Yes. Did I enjoy it? Absolutely! Will I do it again? Definitely! My guides were Joshua and Doug. They were both polite, safety-conscious and very funny, too, making the 2.5 hr excursion a ton of fun. The owner, Monty, was present and he was also very friendly and safety conscious. After we were finished, he spent a lot of time talking to us and asking for our honest feedback. You can tell he really cares about everyone having a wonderful experience. I always like seeing that from business owners. I’m not too good with heights, so any apprehension I may have had all but vanished after getting to know the guides and owner. Yet, they did this without removing any of the thrill from my experience. They all made sure I was safe, well-trained, and had a ton of fun. They also provided me with great feedback after each zipline on my form, how to do better on the next one, etc. The fee was very fair. I even intend to buy a gift certificate for my 65-year old parents this Christmas. I don’t have any children, but I kept thinking, would I let my 10 year-old daughter do something like this. While driving up to Salida, I thought, no way, but after meeting Monty and the guides, I completely changed my mind. This is definitely something I’d let my children do, it would give them a thrilling experience as well as teach them great life lessons about trusting others, learning to let go of their “control,” facing fears, and trying new things. I’m very impressed with the well-oiled machine that is Captain Zipline. I intend to recommend this place to a lot of friends and colleagues. PS – Don’t skimp. Definitely, do the full 7 zip line course. I would have been bummed if I had chosen only the 4 zipline course. After 4, I definitely wanted more! Thanks, Monty. I’ll be back!

Captain Zipline provided our entire group with an afternoon of exhilarating fun. Our two guides were extremely knowledgeable and both had a terrific sense of humor that made the whole adventure more enjoyable for all of us. They provided excellent training on the equipment and their expertise gave everyone a feeling of safety, which was vital considering the canyons we were to to zip over. Being an engineer, and also concerned for our safety in general, I checked out the equipment and the zipline construction in particular very carefully. The equipment provided, which we used on the lines (cable trolleys, harnesses, carabiners, and helmets) were all in very good condition. The ziplines cables themselves seemed almost brand new, and all were extremely well designed and anchored. .From Denver, it was an easy three hour drive, We chose the seven zipline tour, which was just right for our group of five. That zipline tour itself, including the short commute from downtown Salida (in provided vans) to the zipline area, the zipline rides, and the return to Salida took roughly three hours. We drove up from Denver, rode the ziplines and drove back in about 11 hours altogether, making this a great day trip. I strongly suggest that their website be used to make reservations ahead of time. Several folks who showed up without reservations at the Salida headquarters, where the tours start, were unable to go because the tours had been filled up. Although cameras are not encouraged, small ones (that will fit securely in a pocket) or cell phone cameras (again, which must securely fit in a pocket) seem to work. Trust me on this - you need both hands to ride the lines and unless you have a hands free helmet camera, there's no easy way to take pictures while zipping down the lines. However, you can easily take pictures of your friends as they take off or land while you're waiting your turn. Regarding weight restrictions, the website gives general guidelines. I'm about 5'11", weigh 235 lbs., and have a tummy measurement (at the bellybutton, where they ask you to measure) of just about 44". In other words, I take an extra tubby size. I had no problems with the harness or the lines. My guess is that as long as you can get the harness fastened safely, you're okay. The guides will let you know if there's a problem. Rumor has it that they had a 360 lb customer who made it through fine. About children. One family in our tour had a seven-year old who had no problems at all. He had a terrific time and couldn't stop grinning There are child-sized harnesses available, and the guides take extra time and care with the kids (and nervous adults). All in all, this was well worth the money and we will certainly be doing it again in the future.
