Sunset Cultural Center
This is the meeting place for Carmel Food Tours. Look for the tall, Gothic-style arch and huge windows. It looks a little like a church, but it's not. When you descend into the courtyard, which is located EXACTLY at the intersection of 9th & San Carlos, you'll be greeted by your tour guide.

Our experience with the Carmel Food Tour with Migdalia Camacho Denike was simply amazing. The cuisine is a matter of choosing the best in the town. Migdalia ("Mig") was the energy, the wit, and the knowledge of the wonderful, substantial plates we savored. Clint and I want to thank her again for passionate, enthusiastic, energy. Yes, we enjoyed the food experience as well. We were rewarded with sit-down samplings from various fine restaurants paired with great wines, beers, and/or milkshakes. Yes, a couple chose the milkshake. These venues included Anton & Michel, Lucca, Carmel Honey Company and 400°. Yummy honey at the Carmel Honey Company. The story gets better as it is a business created by a 15 year-old entrepreneur who has mastered this art and the savvy bees and honey extraordinaire. Olive oil symposium plus tasted differences in various olive oils and balsamic vinegars at Trio Carmel and experienced olive oil on ice cream, delish! We finished with the crème de la crème chocolates at Lula's Chocolates, an underscore ending of our tour. As we traveled from venue to venue, we walked through back alleys and courtyards. Prior to travels to Half Moon Bay, in warm and playful weather, we happily enjoyed the charms of Carmel. Bon Appetit! Cheers to Carmel Food Tour and to all!

My wife and I have experienced a number of walking food tours, in the US, Canada, and Paris. Our experience with the Carmel Food Tour was certainly equal to the others which we have enjoyed. Migdalia ("Mig") was our delightful hostess and guide. She was obviously dedicated, enthusiastic, and enjoyed her job as much as we all enjoyed the experience. We were rewarded with sit-down samplings from various fine restaurants paired with great wines, beers, and margaritas. These venues included Anton & Michel, Cultura Comida, Affina, and 400 Degrees. We also experienced extraordinary honeys at the Carmel Honey Company, a business created by a 15 year-old entrepreneur who has mastered this art and knows everything about bees and honey. We were taught and tasted differences in various olive oils and balsamic vinegars at Trio Carmel and tasted these on ice cream as well. We finished with very tasty chocolates at Lula's Chocolates, a perfect ending to our tour. As we traveled from venue to venue, we walked through back alleys and courtyards. Along with the unusually warm and beautiful weather, we happily enjoyed the charms of Carmel. Bon appetit!

It was a super experience! Amber did a great job as our tour guide, providing interesting information about Carmel along the walks, as well as helping our hosts at the different restaurants present their dishes. Nice variety of tastings, from creamy polenta topped with Kobe short rib meat, to soft tacos of chorizo and chicken with a side of crickets for the daring, to a tomato bisque, all with perfect beverage pairings. Dessert was a light and luscious tiramisu, followed by fascinating tastings of olive oil and balsamics, and of raw local honeys, and some unique ways to use them. Finished with delicious chocolates, feeling comfortably satisfied. Be sure to wear comfortable, supportive shoes because the streets, sidewalks and little pathways are all made from different materials e.g., some brick, some stone, some cracked cement and pretty bumpy.
