Cave Point Kayak Tour

Overview

This kayak tour sets off to see a few of the many precious gems of Door County.

You will experience thousand year old caves, ancient fossils, and Whitefish Dunes State Park.

After an introductory lesson and a calm launch from a location north of Cave Point, you'll follow the coast until seeing the coves of Cave Point County Park where you'll creep along listening to the wonderful sound of the water and enjoying the view of the caves. Then explore the caves with the kayaks, and finally head towards Whitefish Bay Dunes State Park.

At this point, you will turn around and return to the launch location or head to the take-out point at the Whitefish Bay Town boat launch (dependent upon the wind). The caves are not viewable from the land.

We did the kayak tour as part of a family reunion. We had 40 people in our group, they said the largest in the last two summers! Go Thies'. Everyone had a blast. great communication and organization. Payment paperwork was laid out and ready to go when we returned. Especially want to thank our excellent guides Ellen Bert, and Quinton... they were helpful, and friendly and showed us a great time!

It was a good time, the company did a good job being organized and everything was scheduled. We spent about 2 hours on the water, which for $60 seems like not a lot. I was expecting big, massive caves, however what we got were little holes in the rock. Not to mention, we only saw two "caves". Kelsey did a great job, especially with a few older folks who were on our trip. She really helped them out and prevented them from falling back. Overall, would recommend if a little cheaper or longer time on the water.

Most people have a hard time spending more than 2 hours in a kayak, so props to you for being able to handle it. Cave Point is a beautiful county park that was named by someone other than me, there are plenty of caves under the water, above water and if you are looking for something more grandiose than cave point county park, I would suggest Apostle Islands Caves, but that spot comes with a lot more hazards; cold water and dangerous conditions and minimal safety take outs. So we feel we are blessed with cave point. I have not raised our tour price for 15 years, it has always been $55/ person. I will try to come up with a solution to offering a longer opportunity to be on the water for a less expensive option.
