The tour started rocky. The company was definitely overwhelmed with their bookings and couldn’t get organized. We were about a half hour late getting started. They then hurriedly tried to get us going with no real instruction (which was fine for us since we were experienced, but others in our group were a bit overwhelmed early). Then the trails were busy early and getting going was a real goat rodeo. People going the wrong way on trails, 4wheelers and for broncos taking up space on trails, it was frustrating.
That was the negatives, then we got past the rocky start and then the ride was great. Some mountain climbs, stream crossings, wildlife spotting (rattlesnakes birds and donkeys). It wasn’t a huge test of driving and only a couple of ‘fastish’ areas of driving.
Sam was our guide. He was very energetic and willing to explore a bit. I was glad we had Sam. We were glad to have a guide our first time, but we all agreed if we did it a second time, we’d like to be able to go a little more freely.
I gave it 4 out of 5 due to the rough start and lack of organization in getting the tour going.
