I loved the Harlem Tour with George. I was so inspired that I bought tickets to the Apollo Theater amateur night show.

My teenage daughter, my friend and I chose this tour because it sounded interesting and we wanted to visit Harlem during our week in New York. Despite the rain at the start of the walk, George captured our attention with his knowledge of the area and his personalised anecdotes and we barely noticed getting wet! He told us about Harlem immigration and its changing demographies, the various musicians who have lived In there and pointed out numerous architectural features and their histories. The highlight of the tour for my daughter, an avid fan of the musical 'Hamilton', was the Alexander Hamilton's house! George recommended eating places to us, which turned out to be fabulous.

Excellent guide, Doris, explained the sights along the way on this historically, culturally, and architecturally interesting area of the city. She patiently answered all questions. Listening to (and participating in) the Wednesday gospel service which was accompanied by a small jazz combo, was a relaxing and "freeing" experience ! Since so many nationalities are on this tour it might be helpful to have at least one interpreter for a primary second language.
