There is a flat pier out to the boat and the boarding ramp is about 30 feet long. Travelers will board on the top deck and there are stairs to the lower level. Restrooms are located on the top deck.

Fort Sumter National Monument

While aboard the Carolina Belle your professional and licensed captain will narrate history, sights, and facts about the Charleston Harbor as you pass locations critical to United States history. You will get close-up views of the Holy City's most famous and charming sights such as Fort Sumter: One of Charleston's most popular landmarks, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired, USS Yorktown: the famous World War II “Fighting Lady," Confederate and Union army Forts Moultrie and Johnson, St. Michael’s Episcopal Church: A surviver of both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, whose steeple was painted black so as not to be an easy target, Stately homes on the Battery: Symbols of Southern elegance and perseverance.

Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge

You will also see the Cooper River Bridges, including the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge: A state of the art span that accommodates the largest ships in the world and connects downtown Charleston to Mount Pleasant. To add to this wonderful experience, don't be surprised if you see Dolphins skimming the surface of the water and pelicans diving for food.

We enjoyed the Harbor tour while in Charleston. Typical tour with informative staff. Plenty of seating available on boat. If you want a prime seat, get early to location and get in line. We brought a sausage platter and bought a "bottle" of wine on board. Yes, a bottle but beware. Again, this can get pricey. Additional fees are added onto price of ticket.

What a colossal waste of time and money. Not only did staff badly handle our booking but the ride itself is as boring as it gets plus you cannot hear a thing the captain is saying over the speakers. Seriously, the sound system is totally useless. The only thing worth seeing out there is Fort Sumter and I strongly suggest going on the dedicated Fort Sumter tour where you can disembark there and really see it.

It's difficult to address what you mean by staff badly handling your booking. You booked through Viator, a 3rd party and we have no problems looking up these reservations and having guests board the boat. As far as nothing to see in the harbor, that is obviously not true as Charleston consistently ranks as the top destination in the US and North America largely due to the beauty and history surrounding the city. There are 4 historic forts in the harbor, one of the largest cable stayed bridges in the world, a WWII era aircraft carrier, and countless dolphins and other wild life, just to name a few things. There may be areas on our vessels, where sound is muffled due to wind conditions, but guests are welcome to move about the vessel.

This was a great way to see the Harbour. Enjoyed the tour very much - only thing I would recommend is more seating. Definitely worth the price and time.
