Valerie was the tour guide. She had a lot of energy and very nice. She made us laugh and enjoyed her job! She made me feel at ease and gave lots of history about Charleston and at the stops she made.

We opted for the mini group tour instead of the Carriage ride because of the heat but there were many other reasons too. Of course the minibus was air conditioned and more comfortable but it was easier to hear our guide too. The minibus is 90 minutes long instead of only an hour and it covers more area. We went north to The Citadel and then all the way to the Battery. Great speaker, wonderful sights and so much history. I highly recommend it.

We recently went on a tour. The tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable, the tour took us past many places and is a great way to see the city. Those are the good things. The bus did not feel like it was air conditioned at all. I realise it's very not outside, and the more people you have inside just adds to this, but this bus was just blowing around warm air. I have been on many busses which are able to keep the air conditioning cold, even when it's over 100 F with the humidity outside and a lot of bodies inside, so the heat cannot be blamed for the lack of air conditioning. It really made the tour hard to enjoy, even though the tour guide was trying his best. I know all the small busses seem to be built the same, but you would score a lot of points if you could get one that had a large window at the front, and larger windows on both sides (i.e., not so much space between them), so that all passengers had a better view of things that are being pointed out. Our tour was over 15 minutes late, waiting for people who were being picked up from their hotel. I realise there may have been traffic, but if this is a service you're offering, then you need to allow more time to go get them (the driver who picked these people up sat out back of the Visitor's Centre for a long time - he could have left earlier to go get them). I don't think it's fair to keep a bus load of customers waiting that long. Perhaps the pick up driver should do some of the tour and then meet up with the tour bus en route, instead of making everyone wait.(The tour was still 90 minutes, but we were late). Buy your tickets ahead of time. If you buy online, you will not get, nor do you need a physical ticket. The buses leave from the back of the Visitor's Centre. Arrive 10-15 minutes before departure if you want the choice of seats. Where you actually have to go is not really ever explained in the confirmation you get online - it just says the Visitor's Centre. Go to the bathroom before you leave on the tour.
