Tours take place rain or shine and meet in a different gallery for each tour. A message with the meeting location will be sent prior to the tour.
Your tour guide is licensed by New York City's Department of Consumer Affairs as a tour guide and is a member of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA USA).
Some galleries have stairs. Please let us know in advance if you need to avoid stairs so we can make sure the itinerary is accessible.
Travelers should be able to stand and walk for two hours. Seating is usually not available.

What To Expect

Chelsea

On this 2-hour tour, you’ll visit approximately seven of the most important contemporary art gallery shows of the moment, seeing and discussing artwork in variety of media. Exhibitions change every five to six weeks, so there is always something new to see. Your itinerary will include a range of mega-galleries and smaller space showing artwork by nationally and internationally acclaimed artists.

I've never been to any of the downtown galleries before. It's always felt too intimidating and overwhelming. I had no idea where to start. Merrily led our small group to seven galleries in Chelsea. It was an extremely well planned two hours. We were able to see a wide range of photography, paintings, mixed media and large installations, and Merrily shared background information on each artist and their works. She enabled us to understand what we were seeing in a way we never could have without her guidance and knowledge! She made the art extremely accessible and I'll definitely take another tour with her!

Great experience - would do it again! Merrily arranged an itinerary and was knowledgeable of the neighborhood. it’s history, the gallery spaces, artwork and artists. It all made for an excellent experience. It would have taken us a tremendous amount of time to plan this out on our own, and we would have missed a lot without the complementary expertise and knowledge of the neighborhood. I left feeling comfortable enough to walk around on my own (and bring my family) another time - and eager to participate in one of Merrily’s other tours.
