When I signed up and paid for this tour I was eagerly anticipating an exciting tour where I would get to actually get to see many of the actual locations where all of the “gangster” activity took place back in the 1930’s. After taking this “tour” I can only say I certainly wish I had taken the time to read the reviews before embarking on this rip-off adventure. The bad and accurate reviews were already there for me to see, and they were right on the money. This tour is 95% riding around in a crowded bus with uncomfortable seats, while listening to somebody talking WAY TOO LOUD with a completely unnecessary amplifier sound system tell you stories about various crime figures in the past. That’s it, they just tell you stories. To be fair, they did take us to the theatre where John Dillinger was captured and the alley way next door where he was shot. How exciting.....an alleyway. They also showed you some “bricks” which have something to do with the St. Valetines Day massacre. You could see these bricks off in the distance and this was supposed to be informative. Then they took you to Harry Cary’s bar that has gangster photos. Anybody can walk in to see this. You don’t need to pay $40.00 for something you can do on your own. Also, they must have been running short on gangster stories so they threw in the Drugstore as we passed that somebody ingested some cyanide in Tylenol bottles just a few years ago. What this has to do with Chicago’s gangster era I have no clue. Perhaps the most annoying part of the tour was when we were all outside freezing in front of the theatre where John Dillinger was captured. There were about 10 of us standing on the sidewalk in very close proximity to the guide. She literally was talking to us using her loudly amplified device, even though we were all standing right in front of her. I had to step away from the group as her amplified voice was so loud. The best part of the tour? We drove past a nice park called OZ park that I didn’t even know existed before the tour. This is a small park that has life sized statues of Dorothy and Toto, the tin man, scarecrow, And lion in different areas of the park. No mention of this was made as we drove past. After the tour I made my way back to explore this park. To sum it up, if you are thinking of taking this tour I have one word of advice......DON’T! Huge waste of time and money. Spend the money on a nice meal instead.

My friend and I did the Crime and Mob tour yesterday in the city. I am from out of state and my friend lives in a Chicago suburb, and we both loved it! Mike, the guide, was extremely informative and entertaining. I liked the fact that most of the tour was on a bus with sound to hear the guide, but also there were moments we got to go outside and see things firsthand. Highly recommended for any age! Thanks, Mike!
