Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art: General Admission Ticket

Overview
The MCA Chicago is one of the nation’s largest multidisciplinary museums devoted to the art of our time with an international reputation for presenting ground-breaking exhibitions.

Originally conceived as a "Kunsthalle" or non-collecting art hall hosted temporary exhibitions of new and experimental artists, the museum has no permanent exhibits on view. Instead, you'll find work by living artists across media in exhibits that change every few months.

The MCA also boasts an award-winning Store and Marisol, the restaurant and bar, featuring innovative flavors in an immersive art environment. Please call the Box Office for questions or exchanges.

We visit Chicago every summer and attend a different museum in the city each time. We absolutely love the Art Institute, the Museum of Science & Industry, The Field Museum etc- and hoped to round out our experience w some contemporary art this year. The MCA was by far the most disappointing. Every art installation in the building (except maybe one) included elements of violence, sex, abuse and general themes that my family did not really enjoy. Regardless of whether people feel it is appropriate for the venue or a necessary part of contemporary art - we just did not enjoy seeing it. If you’re really into this and/or do not have kids with you - then go for it. Otherwise you may want to skip it; I wish we did.

The employees were friendly, but I have discovered that I am not a fan of this type of art work. I felt it was very depressing.
