My husband and I signed up for the Chicago Private Tour after my elderly mother and I took similar tour in LA. When we booked vacation in Chicago every one was asking what is to do there. Well now I cannot stop talking about the city. This tour was not only interesting, comprehensive and educational it also raised the level of our intellect even higher, especially if we compete watching JEOPARDY on TV, the last episode we watched I beat my husband for the first time :). Now with all the facts that we collected we expended even more on our knowledge plus viewed all we have seen on internet in which case we were interested now and listen to all of the songs about Chicago on youtube.
Another best thing that happened to us was that it rained during our tour which was great.. I did checked with weather forecast and was happy to know that our day will be indeed productive. The only down side was that you don't get to get out of the vehicle as on regular days, but we managed to get out and see the old library when the rain temporarily stopped.
The tour is pricy, but well worth it if traveling with elderly, disabled, children in school or simply want attention from your tour guide, instead of when in group tour you have to literately run after guide and God forbid you lose your guide or the group altogether, not to mention not hearing a word the group guide is saying unless you are dragging yourself directly behind competing with others for your position in relation to the tour guid:-). Is this what you want your mind to be preoccupied with?
We truly enjoyed Chicago Private Tour, our guide was George, very knowledgeable and didn't need to look up in the book to answerer our questions he will transcend you to ensure you find yourself in the past and climbing through the time line of the city's history. How? It is surprise and you must find out on your own. Tyrone the driver, if I didn't know any better I would think he was our family member. Both gentlemen did a great job and if you are serious about expending your horizons and not just seeing sight seeings:-))), this tour is for anyone who is hungry for knowledge. Touring in luxury is a plus. The only one suggestion I would like to make is to provide each guests with the map of Chicago which would make it easier for orientation purposes especially if first time in Chicago. Oh, and you get to be picked up at your hotel entrance.
One more, pay attention to architecture, looks more than much better with real eyes, you will learn all about Chicago architecture, and see skyline which is spectacular, and and its beauty cannot be depicted, so see it and bring it back with your memory.
