This past September I went on three private tours with Kevin: 1) West Village, Chelsea, & the Highline (by myself -- a private tour with just yourself & the guide is awesome!) 2) Lower Manhattan & the Financial District (with a friend) 3) Greenwich Village, Little Italy, & Chinatown (with a friend) At first I'd booked only two tours, but I enjoyed the first one so much that I quickly booked a third one for my friend and me. Kevin was extremely knowledgeable and answered all questions in detail, no matter how seemingly obscure. He grew up in NYC and he knows something fascinating about every square foot of the city. I found out things that I never, ever would have known had I not gone on these tours, and that made the city enjoyable & intriguing on a whole new level beyond what I'd experienced on my previous visits. There are stories everywhere if someone shows you where to look, and Kevin definitely did that. He also gave background information, both political & historical, beyond anything you'd ever hear on one of those stop-n-go busses. I'm definitely going to go on Kevin's Mid-Town Manhattan and Central Park tours the next time I'm in NYC, and I'd love to do a custom tour also. You can't go wrong with any of these tours. We watched large buses driving by full of tourists listening to a tour guide speak through a speaker system as they rushed along to the next spot. Instead we were enjoying a tour with New York Historical Tours. Thanks to Kevin's historical narrative, we felt up front and close to the historical events. We did not feel rushed, but instead were able to ask questions and learn from the vast treasure of knowledge that Kevin has to share. If you want the experience of truly beginning to understand the history of New York, this tour will accomplish that. We highly recommend this tour.

This tour was even better than I expected! Kevin was most informative and knowledgeable regarding the history of these areas of NYC. Our two hours together flew by, and I learned so much about the West Village, Chelsea, and the High Line. I can't wait to return to NYC and set up another tour through New York Historical Tours. Additionally, I think these tours would be appropriate and interesting for school-aged children, and I would not hesitate to arrange a tour with my own children next time we visit NYC.
