Adventure through Shell Key Preserve in your 100% clear kayak! See crystal-clear water, diverse marine life, and the underwater world below your clear kayak.

You’ll paddle along mangroves, enjoy white sand beaches and sandbars, and explore a secluded beach. If the tide is high, your guide will lead the way through a hidden mangrove tunnel. Shell Key Preserve is located in Tierra Verde, FL near St. Pete Beach in the Tampa Bay area.

Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins, manatees, pelicans, crabs, and more while enjoying the preserve’s picturesque mangroves, beaches, and sandbars. Be on the lookout for a manatee or the beautiful pink Roseate Spoonbills in the summer months. White Pelicans call the sandbars of Shell Key Preserve their home during the winter months! Throughout the year, dolphins frolic in the crystal-clear waters and cormorants love to swim alongside your kayak. Chances are that you’ll see a variety of wildlife, but sightings are random and not guaranteed.

It was our first time kayak so it was nerve racking. Overall Charlie was patient and clear with instruction. He was a great tour guide and very informative on the wildlife. 100% would recommend.

booked tour, tour gets canceled by tour guide but rescheduled for later in the day. took 10 minutes or so to get out of the loading area in the water. get into bay area and then sat around 10 minutes while tour guide called manager about weather conditions. manager said proceed with the tour, tour guide decided no we will cancel. headed back which took 20 minutes due to inexperience kayak users that need tour guide assistance which i dont mind others not knowing what they are doing but the time is the important part here since they are considering our hour tour into this time frame and said i got an hours worth out of the tour. After that i was told 50% of my money will be refunded because we used an hour. if you consider making your way out of the bay area and then floating in one spot 1/4 into the tour while waiting for your tour guide to finish talking on the phone and then heading back to the dock worth the money then this is a tour for you. we got nothing out of this tour that would be worth half the money spent. if our first tour wasnt canceled earlier in the day due to their employee being exposed to COVID our tour wouldnt have been canceled due to weather which never got bad like the manager told them. this should have been a full refund for sure if the company cared about returning customers or good business. So i recommend another company for this tour for sure. poorly handled by all parties involved in this so called tour we got. if you want to pay this money to see a small group of dolphins in the distance and birds and birds, oh the same birds , then this tour is worth the 50% and the right one for you. It was a waste of our vacation time and money.

Loved Shell Key Island! Our guide, Chris, was outstanding — very friendly and welcoming. He kept us entertained throughout the paddle and shared his knowledge of the area and wildlife.
