Clear Kayak Tour with Pontoons - Olowalu, Maui

Overview

Paddle out on a guided tour over majestic coral heads in search of Maui's vast array of sea life. The bottom of the clear kayak magnifies the reef and all of the creatures below you. Pontoon attachments make the kayaks almost impossible to tip and impossible to sink. All tours are small and intimate with only 10 guests per guide. Fun for the whole family. Beginners welcome.

From December to April you can expect to see the Humpback Whales that migrate here for breeding.

As a premium tour company you can expect the best quality equipment. Our kayaks were recently manufactured. Life vests are sized to the guest. Rash guards, sunscreen and dry bags are provided at no extra cost. Our guides are CPR trained, passionate about conservation and have a deep understanding of the flora and fauna you will encounter while on your tour.

We are the only kayaking for charity company on Maui. Every seat booked helps support UHMC!

What To Expect

Maui

Paddle out into the Alalakeiki Channel with our experienced and knowledgeable guides. As you glide across our beautiful reefs the clear kayak acts as one big snorkel mask that magnifies the reef below. With a vast array of wildlife you never know what you will see like octopus, eels, sea turtles, manta rays, seals and schools of fish like the humuhumunukunukuapua'a just to name a few. Our professional photographer and drone operator on shore not only bring peace of mind by being an eye in the sky but are there to capture once in a lifetime moments as you, your friends and family experience the beauty Maui has to offer up close and personal. Photo/video package with drone and go pro footage available for an extra fee. We provide long sleeve rashguard, reef safe sunscreen, refillable water bottle with ice cold R/O water, dry bag, bananas/granola while on the water and fresh cut local pineapple on your return to the shore.

The tour guide and owner are very friendly! Awesome folks! Mia was so happy and extremely enthusiastic! Her smile never left her face the entire session. Her stories about the island and sea life were very informative. Jason was awesome as well. Very personable and down to earth. (Stay Positive!) We didn't have a bad experience; it just wasn't what I was looking for. I was expecting to kayak a good distance from the shore and then snorkel, however we only paddled around a few feet (less than 100) from the shore then came back, returned the kayak and swam out a few feet to snorkel. The clear bottoms are great, but the safety floaties (pontoons) on each side make it hard to paddle and maneuver. I would recommend this for families with young children, older adults or those looking for a less strenuous activity. Although it wasn't what we expected, we did have a good time.

Thank you so much Ronda for leaving us this feedback. We had a great time creating memories with the 4 of you. Hope to see you next time for the Kayak and Snorkel Tour. During whale season it is quite amazing to watch them up close. When reached out to Ronda to see what we could have done better. We explained our Clear Kayak tour does stay over the reef as there is more to see than in the deep blue. It does not include snorkeling as the kayak is one big snorkel mask. It is slower pace great for all ages and athletic ability. We did take her family out snorkeling with our other tour as a courtesy because everyone was having such a great time. After explaining our Kayak and Snorkel tour with our standard ocean kayak goes out much further and anchors over a deeper reef she realized she thought she booked the one with snorkeling. After realizing she booked the wrong tour Ronda did try to amend her review and change it to 5 star but TripAdvisor does not allow it. Thank you again Ronda for all your effort. We truly appreciate it.

My family and I had such a fun time on this kayak tour! Gabriel was very knowledgeable about the history of Olowalu and all the natural life in the area. The clear kayaks were something I’ve never seen before and were a really cool feature that let you view some fish passing underneath. Gabriel and Jason also had amazing local food recs that we LOVED! The entire experience was fantastic and both Gabriel and Jason are very kind and knowledgeable people. I highly recommend :)
